My ecumenical brunch with the kids at home. Champagne is missing! I just learned that Alaska has a 'blue law' prohibiting alcohol sales before noon Sundays. IS THERE NOWHERE ONE CAN ESCAPE THEM?

It seems nowhere is free from their influence.

Still better than Georgia--12:30 here. What the lawmakers don't get--and they're all drinkers--is that drinkers are better planners. As for restaurants--I refuse to go before noon on Sunday.

They could only be more archaic and maniacal if they forbade wife beating until after noon. Theological fanatics have no idea how stupid imposing superstitious notions by secular law looks. Only a minor annoyance now because the less than perfect separation of church-state keeps them from being worse. Just wish it would also do the same to limit oppression by idealistic fanatics on the left.
