Just a thought for Americans.

In November, the political landscape will be vastly different than it is now because of the following.

The voting demographic will have changed because of the attrition rate amongst over 65's from Covid19, with the act of voting also becoming more restrictive.
Economically, we are heading for depression with many industries lost and people out of work, stock markets failing etc
There are going to be a lot of pissed off people.

I think Sanders is dead politically, but his ideals hold true for many. There will never be a better oppourtunity for another to pick up Bernie's baton and run as an independent.

Do you think the impact will be that great, statistically? Moreover, the US has optional voting. Huge numbers of younger people may not vote, due to the hopeless Democratic Party and silly old Biden. It is clear that the US Establishment will destroy any real progressive candidate. Look what Obama did to Bernie recently. Don't know where they go from here. The US is so corrupt at the top. I fear Trump will win gain. 'God' help America; 'God' help us all.

That attrition rate better get crackin’ if it’s going to make any difference. Currently 67 out of a million have died, and that’s a measly 0.007%. Some of’em might’ve been Democrats remember.

“Sanders ideas” have been blocked by (our) Republicans. Their propaganda machines receive far more funding than anything comparable.. They ‘win’ by carving voting districts to their benefit, suppressing voters, sowing dissension and promoting voter apathy. Without them, we’d be as advanced as any nation.

If their numbers, wealth, or control substantially lessened.. and our Democratic Party took solid control of the Presidency and our Congress, it wouldn’t matter who the president was - things would change in a massive way - for the better!

Sanders’ desires are nothing new, nor is he. Obama lost Congress due to his having acquired just the smallest semblance of ‘health care for all,’ if a path to it. But few keep track…

Yes, things will change, and desperate times will call for desperate measures.. But for now, we must support the candidate whose party has chosen him to take on the worst president in our history. Not my first choice, but our only hope ~

@powder If we could only go Parliamentary(!). I think our Founders blew it by avoiding it… and rarely if ever hear it brought up. I’d love to have an Atheist Party … we’d carve out what we can of the electorate, then join with those most willing to further our cause and respect our concerns.

As you’ve noticed, our only presidential opportunity to have a choice is ‘now’ … and how ugly it gets.. We bust heads and hold grudges to the point a party can fall apart … leaving the other to win. And it’s not always the Democrats fighting like cats 😕

@powder Yes, I believe Nader ran in three consecutive presidential election cycles, if for ego alone. I’d once admired the guy, but no more. He’s a political prick ..if he’s even alive. But he’d garnered just enough habitual followers to have thrown an election to george bush junior. Voters eventually figured him out, only two horrid presidential terms late..

Many had feared Sanders would do the same, but if not quite running outside the party as a spoiler … he just screwed over Hillary Clinton to the point of no return. Every election has it’s spectrum of candidates ..testing the water.. to see if their flavor of politics flies. Most drop off after a bit, but some, like Bernie, remain rabidly bent on ‘their message’ or no message. He’s waited too long, fired up hostility to a level that can’t be walked back … and fucked over the American people in the process. Much like Nader..
