Rich Goscicki

Ever since high school I've always been impressed with Rene Magritte, the father of surrealism. He helped bring on existentialism and the changes in philosophy and religion from the late '20s on. Here's some of his strangest stuff. I love the one with the man holding the baby. I'd be glad to discuss any that pique you interest: As in his paintings, what's important in a capitalist oligarchy is: WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT THE PICTURE IS ABOUT.

For instance: Take constantly watching these stupid car insurance company commercials on CNN and other stations. What the execs are endlessly saying is: We have you at our mercy.. With the pols in our pocket, and we paid them plenty, ,you have to buy our product by law or face the consequences. We can say any stupid asinine things we want that has absolutely nothing to do with car insurance and you can't do a thing about it. Nothing is too stupid for you. Take the jerk with the ugly voice and the emu for Liberty ,Liberty, Liberty. They believe if they keep on repeating and repeating the word you'll be stupid enough to buy it.

Or how about that Progressive chick with her stupid boyfriend, Jamie? They're constantly in your face and you can't do a think about it. I even have to look at her surreal photo plastered on the toll booth as I pay the toll on the Skyway Bridge. One that really gets me mad if you've seen it. A totally obnoxious man declares himself to be a dog and starts licking the neck of the lady driving who acts like this behavior is normal.

Most people pay around $1000 for car insurance. Does anybody ask what percentage of that goes for advertising? We are forced by law to pay the exorbitant salaries of Madison Ave advertising executives that contribute absolutely nothing to society. We could sure use a Magritte now to point out how surreal our lives have become. It stems from letting the market determine how we live, what we do, and how little most of society thinks.

My satellite TV lets you record programs ahead of time. Then you can skip through them. I haven't watched commercials for over a year. They are the greedy, obnoxious corporation with a megaphone shouting obscenities in your ear, insulting you, laughing at your values, spitting in your face. Why? It works for the sheeple who are their 'target demographic.'
Commercials are mini-indictments, on full display every hour of the day or night, of the capitalist sewer we are all wallowing around in.
And most of the programs they 'sponser' are just as bad.

I agree with you but I would take away the top paragraph.

Just a copying error. That's from a forum I belong to. I'll take you advise.

I too want everyone to know how stupid it is to spend all this money on advertising. Cheapest manufacture or composition, Good Quality and ONLY factual information is all that you need to sell something. With those things it will sell itself by word of mouth. No privilege in space for factual information either. No discounts, 3 for 2 or special terms either. Information needed from every version of what is being sold presented in a way that it is easy to make comparisons and easy cheap return of unwanted articles.
