#BlackLivesMatter this is an explanation I found on Instagram that helps others understand what people of color hear when people say all lives matter.

It is an absolutely true statement that Black lives matter. It is a plea for acknowledgement of basic value, equality and humanity, acknowledgment lacking in some quarters.

It is also true that all lives matter, but that misses the point.

And also, All lives don't matter UNTIL Black Lives Matter! πŸ™‚

@dave1459 Not so. I am reading it first of all from a logical perspective, and trying to interpret the statement from the Black perspective. They are telling us that contrary to what is often exhibited, their lives matter. It is a plea for an end to police harassment and violence.

It is in no way an attack on you or me. Of course White lives are just as valuable, but that was never in question.

Yes, there is a lot of Black on Black violence. No, it’s not OK. It is very painful. Maybe someday that problem will abate. Maybe all violence will begin to abate if we view each other with love and respect as is logical.
