I just wondered. I keep seeing a lot of reports about anti-mask protests, and the so called anti -mask movement, especially in the US. And I think that it is great that people have both the freedom and the will to protest and campaign about issues which are important to them. But masks ? So, I just wanted to ask the US members here, if you can answer me a question. Does the phrase, "Get a life." exist in the US?

I've also heard "Why don't you go buy yourself s life?" I think not wearing a mask is lazy. A movement that relies on laziness is destined to have some success. I don't think Americans are lazy. Americans work long hours, more than Europeans. They on average don't take vacations nearly as much as other countries. "Holiday" I think that's what's harmful about lockdown. I think people could become complacent. Not having to get up and go to work has it's perks.

oh yeah.......been using it for years. We also smile and say "Have a nice day" to people who are morons instead of telling them to just go f**k themselves.

Yes . “ get a life “ is a saying here .
Does not matter to them whatever we can possibly say . They are convinced that covid is not as harmful as we say , and they are convinced that there is no real danger .

Well yes, but I think that it is even sillier than seat belts. After all seat belts only protect you, and if you are prepared to ignore the costs to family and friends, plus the raised cost of medical insurance, you can just about make a case against seat-belts as a demand for freedom, you are stupid if you do, but you can. Whereas masks protect everyone, and the cost is trivial.
@Fernapple I think it's more similar to the refusal of men to use condoms. But to make it more generalized, it's also like driving while intoxicated, or texting while driving.
I suspect these folks would find it a moral outrage if someone refused to wear clothing in public, but they don't see refusal to wear masks as such, the latter of which is potentially more harmful. It saddens me how stupid a lot of people really are.
