Why it's ok to be stressed out.

Is anyone else dealing with a recent job change/loss during the COVID-19 crisis? Factor in the threats of losing the post office and extra revenue from an ebay store. It's hard having to work a new job 100% remotely for the first time. We lost the staple of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a whole country's democracy shouldn't be at risk for that reason. Factor in we have to constantly battle the cause of the mishandling of COVID-19 and destruction of the post office. It shouldn't even be an argument let alone a discussion.

COVID-19 and the USPS are only two of the things that are stressing me out. Fortunately, Medicare Advantage still pays for me to talk with my therapist every week.

Life is scary right now in the US, and many (most?) of us are suffering from the effects of depression and/or PTSD from the constant barrage of events coming at us, and an epidemic that keeps us from the healing influence of being with other human beings. It's particularly stressful for those isolating alone.

In my more paranoid moments I think it's intentional that we're kept this way, and perhaps being pissed off about that idea is what keeps me going. But I think it's important that we forgive ourselves, and realize that the standards we had in previous years do not apply right now. We're doing the best we can, and that's fine.

The entire country is under significant stress and anxiety right now. It's becoming chronic, and I think we all feel the added weight of it in some way or another. I keep reminding myself that it's okay to not demand much more than just getting through the next few months with my sanity intact. It's a bit more apathetic a stance than I typically enjoy, but it also seems to be what the situation calls for. Hang in there. Better days lie ahead. How far ahead is still yet to be seen, but still I find balance in remaining hopeful.
