A decent mask gives the wearer about 20% protection from others, but IT GIVES OTHERS AROUND 70% PROTECTION FROM THE WEARER.

@luckytobealive Not scientifically proven at all. Even a cloth mask reduces the spray of particulates and therefore virus that you exhale if you have an asymptomatic infection. You exhale fewer and they don't travel as far. On the other side of the coin, any protection at all is better than nothing.
Masks alone won't do it. Masks, social distancing, frequent hand washing and sanitation will help keep the virus in check.

@luckytobealive well as i only wear one a few hours usually for the weekly shop and then dry it out thoroughly, I’m not going to worry too much. I do believe that self isolation is your best chance of avoiding the virus.

@luckytobealive I also have been reading Scientific Journals and talking with researchers and I am finding that masks are the best defense the normal person has. What needs to be done is to keep the particles coming out of a person's mouth and nose from going into common space. This is how the virus propagates. If you do not wear a mask and you have the virus, even with no symptoms, you will infect others. And if you think Herd immunity will save us then you should be put in jail for murder. Herd immunity means that over 70% of the population would need to have had the virus and survive, while there is a 1% mortality rate. This means that in the US since the population is about 330,000,000, 3,300,000 would have to die. Want to be one of the dead?

There are also riots in major Italian and Spanish cities against the restrictions, further complicating matters.

@luckytobealive Oh yeah, in relation to the nordic neighbors that have similar societies they have more infected per capita, more deaths per capita (total), are already with more hospitalized per capita now, with infection rate increasing in relation to the neighbors (already practically the same as DK and catching up with IC) using their own data. But, realistically probably will never happen. It’s true he has been under investigation here in NY by federal and local prosecutors.

Even if he was arrested, booked, and eventually found guilty the most likely scenario would be is heavy fines, possibly even go bankrupt from what he might spend on lawyers and other legal expenses. and possibly probation.
