For one hour a year the citizens of a town in a state on the Pacific coast officially have the same time as the citizens of a town in a state on the Atlantic coast. It happened last night, and here’s when and how: While most of Florida is on eastern time, the western part of its handle—including Pensacola—is on central time, and while most of Oregon is on pacific time, one eastern portion—including Ontario—is on mountain time. So for most of the year these Ontarions and Pensacolans are just an hour apart. Then as daylight savings time expired early this morning, the official time during the hour following the Pensacolans' “fall back” and preceeding the “fall back” of the Ontarions was exactly the same!
