Should an elected leader represent the interests of his or her own political party, or is it better to try to compromise?

"Represent Represent" - Nas

The Dems are masters of the pre-emptive cave and negotiating with themselves in phony pursuit of non-existent bipartisanship. Why? Because they really aren't rivals or that different than the Repubs and are instead more of a fake opposition party on all the issues that really matter to the ruling class and corporate America, which do not include identity politics and culture war issues. Most of the battles in DC over issues the two parties agree on are just so much Kabuki theater.

Compromise is key. But if you turn your back too much on those who put you in power, you may end up like Francisco Madero.
