At one time in my youth I had some great aunts that periodically shipped old rags to someplace in Chicago where they got credit for so many pounds until they reached their goal of enough pounds to get a rug from that same company. In other words we used to be a less throw away society even in America. I found a link to that company.

Shame the world doesn't still treasure being able to recycle used items.

Cost of postage now probably is prohibitive.

An impresive achievement - 15% of world capacity in one village.
