I took a taxi from New York Manhattan to New Jersey once with a driver who was a 60 year Polish man who escaped the Auschwitz holocaust.
After hearing his story, I uttered, "Thank God, you survived the horror."
He said... "What God? Which God would allow 1.5 million children to die in gas chambers?"

I cannot say I can relate but I am an angry atheist.
But I have not understood why the Jewish people after perishing in millions in the holocaust and millions haraased, psrsecuted across the world in which God did nothing and God allowed all to happen would make them establish a heavily religious state in the Middle East causing so much violence and animoisity. Was God and Religion necessary for the Jewish freedom?
One reason I will never buy into an all powerful, bullshit laden, omniscient asshole. Purely a mankind invention so the elite can hold power.
