I have just learnt that the Victorian Australia education board has changed the Year9 upwards curricula to introduce studies into the 1930's + 1940's holocaust in order to inculcate res} ect of other. $50K to be given to a Jewish charity to assist.
No mention seemingly is made of the exterminatin of hundreds of thousands of mentally ill, disabled, union members, Russians, Sinti and Rom in the gas chambers. Nor seemingly is he genocide against the Australian First Nation Peoples that still occurs today through the imposition of white laws.

A good Holocaust studies curriculum should and probably are including all impacted groups. Jehovah Witnesses were victimized too as they are today in Russia.
I think the point of the Niemöller aphorism was to convey a strong general truth that has huge resonance. I don’t think excluding other impacted groups was intended. And Jews were the most impacted group by the Holocaust. But yes other groups suffered too.

Jehovah's Witnesses were mininmal.
Of more concern is how Russians (irrespective of religion or other characteristic) are put into second place when they form the bigest number. Add to that the nuberd killed in battle & bombings and you have a nation that suffered disproportionately and probably still are given American indoctrination & prejudice against them. To put a bit of nuance on it Russians gave us the disgusting tsarist Protocols antisemitic propaganda and pogroms which along with Dreyfus Affair in France inspired Zionism generally and some of the aliyah migrations that impacted native Arab inhabitants of Palestine who understandably reacted in their own way. Revisionist Zionism with its expansionist politics was one of the worst of the impacts on native Arabism.
Russian tsarist thugs also along with American eugenicists (Madison Grant) and antisemites (Henry Ford) inspired frickin Nazis (Hitler). Sickening.
