Who do you believe in?
I believe a little bit in a lot of people. Right now I believe in Mossab Yousef Hassan who called out the Palestinian National Authority at the UN for acts against the Palestinians. I believe in Jake Tapper because he was the only journalist I saw covering the UN through this period. I believe in Angela Merkel for doing her best to fight prejudice in Germany on every front...neonazis, militant muslims. I believe in the woman who made the documentary 'The Aryans'. There's so many other acts, so many efforts. There are a lot of people to believe in.
I believe in friends I've made here for their curious natures and because they want to have a meaningful existence.
I did like the last paragraph !!!!! Right back at ya !!!
As did I. I'm blown away on multiple levels, very well stated CrazyCurlz, and we the community believe in you too!
Reality, logic, reason, accurate mental models, emapthy, kindness, inclusiveness. Things like that.
I don't "believe in" these things in anything like the sense that for example a theist "believes in" god. The latter would be religious faith. I trust these things because they either accurately explain and/or predict experienced reality, or they are demonstratbly a positive way forward for humanity and for personal relationships. I trust them because they are actual things that actually exist, not that are merely asserted to exist. They can be examined, their effects measured, you can do A/B experiments with and without, etc. Also, in general, you can distinguish between these concepts and principles and effects, and your imagination.
