64 year old neighbor. She's a strong Christian fundamentalist. I sent her a message about how easy it is to get a COVID-19 vaccination. My gentle attempt to encourage her. Nope! Not going to happen. Where do these odd-ball rumors start???

Well, survival of the fittest includes being smart...

1

why would anyone want to use the vaccine to track you when anyone can track you right now using your cell phone, either discard your cell phone and get the fucking vaccine or just STFU!

2

Oh, woe is me, so many idiots to rid the world of and so little DDT left in reserve.

1

ha well we could as easily be asking why we are getting offered a vaccine for a virus that has caused, so far, statistically insignificant deaths? I thought you guys were in love with the facts?
2.25 million/7.8 billion = we are getting hosed, imo

Because I am a plausible insignificant statistic.

@Mooolah ha well i am too i guess, but maybe a list of what would be more likely to kill us would be pertinent here

@Mooolah traveling in a car...

@bbyrd009 Being a woman at work. The number 1 cause of death in women at work is murder.

The lies and rumors started at the very top. Helluva hoax, right? If you allow your religious beliefs to get in the way of good ole' science, then you should be allowed to die when Covid gets a hold of your ass. It may raise the average IQ of the population.

hmm, .0003% of us dying, you think?

@bbyrd009 Covid is not done yet. Neither is nature.

@Mooolah ah correction, .0003 or .03%, but regardless
and not denying that we will not continue to die at a quite predictable rate moo, but a list of what you are more likely to die of than covid 19 would put this all in perspective ok. Why the intense focus on this rather than one of the many more pressing issues?

"follow the money"

@bbyrd009 Indeed! In the beginning of the pandemic I noted that 450,000 die of tobacco related deaths of a legal drug available without prescriptions over the counter. That seems a moot point currently based on statistics. But the virus is far from finished. I predicted a 3 year ordeal. Depends on the efficacy of the various vaccinations. I am prepared to hold out longer if necessary as a doomsday prepper, I am no longer the butt of jokes.

A person who is as far beyond hope as she is deserves no sympathy.

The key in this type of lie is to be specific. I like the use of "male 4 month old" as the source. If they are 3.5 months old, that is too young; 4.5 months is too old; 5 months is right out. I just wonder what they use the brain and genitals for, it would be a waste if they just tossed those out. (If you are not good at reading intent, the Monty Python reference should indicate tone that I am just a very naughty boy.)

I heard someone express that they personally knew of atleast two people who died after receiving the vaccine. This was alarming to hear and I am wondering where the numbers are relating to deaths that are proven to be linked to vaccine, or that could possibly be linked to it. I know I heard there were some deaths in elderly in a European country, but haven't heard much here. The people who were said to have passed after vaccine that I recently heard of were not elderly. I am wondering how true it is.

With the the number of people people being vaccinated and the target demographic being the vulnerable and elderly there's a non negligible chance of this happening and having nothing to do with the vaccination. Moreover if I were the person who knew two people to die in short succession and suspected a link to the vaccine then I'd sure let as many people know about it as possible. It has all the features of a great story to tell. As evidenced by the fact that you're passing it on. However I'd like to know if you believe this person is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth as it's human nature to make the best story we can from the materials we have to hand.

It's also human a nature to pay more attention to personal experience and first hand accounts of trusted people close to us than to a Phase III clinical trial studying the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine applied to many thousands of patients and the rigorous followups investigating the frequency of adverse reactions. I'm not saying which is more likely to lead you to the truth, just how our imperfect human nature weighs these things.

An online friend of mine had the AstraZeneca vaccine last week and suffered a disturbing dizzy spell in the night. Here reported it via the yellow card reporting system that's in place in the UK to assess the ongoing safety of all medicines. I should expect that the US equivalent reports should have been automatically made in the case of a death potentially linked to a vaccine but if your friend is not embellishing and wants to ensure the right people hear about it then it's best to check with the CDC or other relevant authority how tracking and reporting is managed over there.

I had call on client who tested negtive when he was admitted in the hospital. They gave him vaccine and 3 days later he tested positive. Since I had read they don't use the live virus, I assumed the initial test was a false negative. They aren't going to give him the second shot, because they felt it would tax his system
.They are going to give him plasma. Also he is elderly, diabetic, has dementia, but no symptoms off fever, cold, or feels sick at all. Has been in hospital and now rehab --admitted because he was unresponsive when aide who shops for him came to his house. his blood sugar was a little over 600.

@gigihein Difficult thing to guess or gauge if only for the simple reason that anybody who is allergic to a drug does not know it until he or she has taken it or been vaccinated. Here in the UK two people who carry epipens had an allergic reaction to the Pfizer vaccine. I read a news article in which it was related that ten people in Germany aged between 79 - 93 died shortly after receving the Pfizer vaccine.

From the little that I know about the vaccines I understand that the Pfizer vaccine is a 'viral vector' vaccine whereas Moderna is an RNA based vaccine, which, it was reported in some news articles, may give rise to autoimmune disorders.

I watched an intersting and informative video recently in which a Chinese virologist categorically stated that the virus was genetically engineered in the Wuhan Laboratories using two coronaviruses. That being the case I wonder about the efficacy the new vaccines.

I am not a scientist but worked with scientists every day for a period of ten years in one of the world's leading genetic research centres that specializes in the treatment of leukaemia, they were pioneers in stem-cell research. I was very popular with the leading scientists and those engaged in postdoctoral research. I made good use of my time there and often had interesting conversations with scientists.

Reminds me of the warning that everyone who received a smallpox inoculation in the nineteenth century has died.

@MattHardy "However I'd like to know if you believe this person is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth as it's human nature to make the best story we can from the materials we have to hand." I do. But I don't know further details of the determined cause of death on medical records. It's possibly unrelated causes and just happened near the vaccination date and so person attributed it to that cause or heard others doing so. I don't have the actual medical info, and cannot get it. So it leaves a question in my mind. How would something like this be tracked in the US, to determine if there was a connection? Again, these were not elderly people who passed. What's the system like here that would follow up?

@gigihein You work in the medical field? I have heard a lot of negative things said about the testing capabilities. Another question in my mind is someone who never tested positive for covid, to my knowledge, but had an upper respritory infection that absolutley reaked havoc on young individuals life. Individual had a serious underlying condition, but whatever infected system was hellish. I won't say more, but trust me it was terrible, terrible and because of certain information I had known it was just so much more distressing to hear this aspect of what the person had to go through. I don't understand how it could have NOT been covid and did what it did to the person's body.

@ASTRALMAX "I watched an intersting and informative video recently in which a Chinese virologist categorically stated that the virus was genetically engineered in the Wuhan Laboratories using two coronaviruses. That being the case I wonder about the efficacy the new vaccines." There is all sort of speculation out there. Which video did you watch? I know I have heard similar claims, but don't know what to believe. How do you think a manmade virus would effect the efficacy of a vaccine?

@MattHardy There were 3 who died after vsccjne that were my clients. They were there for rehab. zRight now there are no appointments because the county ran out, but think it is hopefully temporary.

@Flowerwall I am a social w l rker who investigates and helps those reported as abused, neglected or exploited. Also help elderly, disabled and vulnerable who need help navigating the system and connected with services. Right now there is a higher need. I can request records with an adult protective service release. but wouldn't know autopsy results or anything like that. Not my role once someone dies.

@Flowerwall the tracking can be just a numbers game. They don't necessarily have to look at individual cases (though there's circumstances when they do) rather if someone experiences an adverse event soon after a medical intervention they take the rate at which that event is reported after that intervention, subtract the background rate and if that ends up with more than a certain threshold then it's added as a possible side effect in the literature. So for example I'm taking linagliptin, the patient information leaflet says that up to 1 in 100 people may experience an allergic reaction. It also suggests shortness of breath may be a side effect but that they don't have sufficient data to estimate frequency. Hive affects 1 in 1000. This information comes from Phase II and Phase III clinical trials and for the followup system (yellow card reporting system or equivalent) The patient information leaflet also has details of how to report possible side effects, primarily talk to your doctor. Since doctors are pretty much always involved in reports of death we can assume that a doctor looked into the deaths, but if there are concerns then the correct course of action is to ensure that the doctor is informed that the deceased was recently vaccinated. This ensures that the proper safety signals can be detected. As it stands the safety of vaccines is not 100% and no medicine ever is but it's pretty close.

Would she be happier if it was the liver tissue of a 3 month old (how can one be aborted after birth) female. Does the race matter at all? I would put these questions to her.

The specifics is an attempt to make the statement seem true.

5

If she wants to collect her Darwin Award, why stand in her way?

Besides, it is her choice to refuse to use her brain.

Your 64 year old neighbor is falling for QAnon information that most likely came form a misrepresentation of stem cell research. I reported on this earlier when a man I deliver auto parts to had the same idea. I called him on it quickly and told him it was nonsense. Why would the manner of making vaccines change drastically in the last 4 to 5 years? Since aborted baby parts were never needed for vaccines before what makes people go crazy enough to think suddenly they are needed now? If people think a little they can see the insanity of it. One big problem is that most older people cannot search out Online truth.

3

Fetal stem cells would be fine with me.

7

Wow and here I thought it only had tracking chips invented by Bill Gates. 🙄

As they say:
"You can't fix stupid"

Where is it easy to get a vaccination? I am 65 and the websites say I am fast tracked to get the shots, but there are no appointments available for at least two months, and then no appointments at all.

Here in my backwash of a community....
Yesterday I walked into our Walgreens Pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Casually asked when I could get a COVID-19 vaccination. Made an appointment went back today and got it.

@bigpawbullets I was checking Walgreens online, I'm not sure they are doing it in Arizona yet.

@GeorgeRocheleau
Ive a sister in Colorado.... having a heck of a time scheduling a shot. Apparently every state is setting up their own logistics system for this.

It is still in the hands of each state. There is no federal protocol. Yet.

Why only male 4 month old babies? Seems rather sexist to me.

The lung tissue from the 4 month-old female babies is a delicacy; it fetches far to high a price per pound to be wasted on vaccine creation.

@JeffMurray I knew that already!

And the problem with "reverse" sexism is what again?
