The Conservatives have been at digging dirt on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and California Governor Gavin Newsom for some time.

Both are Democratic bastions, solid Democratic high number of electroal votes.

Digging Dirt by Conservatives or it is own doing by the Governors?

Thoughts?

Most of us thought Mario Cuomo (Andrew's dad) would have made a great president, but we just assumed he had skeleton in his closet that kept him from running.

The republicons have all those think tanks perpetually digging dirt on every Democrat, and now with their media empires they don't even need factual dirt. If Andrew Cuomo had ever skipped school as a kid, NewsMax would have him running a child prostitution ring.

I watched Andrew Cuomo in all there terms in New York. He was great. I think Andrew Cuomo is good too. I think Chris Cuomo is also good at what he does at CNN. All kids are every close too.

Like you said, Republicans and especially hard core Conservatives despise the fact that the large electoral votes states like CA and NY can never be won by the conservatives and they are trying to increase frustration among voters and get Republican governors elected I think.

Newsom promised to legalize cannabis, but when the voters did it, he installed a bunch of pro-corporate a-holes to write new laws that effectively re-criminalized cannabis for everyone who didn't have 5 million to drop into a business. Newsom's new laws have been a complete fiasco, gutting what should have been a healthy flow of tax revenue, and pushing the bulk of cannabis back underground. He has done zero to improve the situation for years now. So, no real loss if Newsom goes down; he is utterly incompetent.

(Also, he opened up way too quickly.)

So the dissatisfaction among people is real? Not drummed up by Republicans?

@St-Sinner I hate to be on the same side as the Republicans, and I'm probably not, actually. I would always take a Democrat over a Republican for the Governor's seat and that includes Newsom. Also, any Republican would do much worse in regards to cannabis policy. My dissatisfaction with Newsom is probably uncommon, but relates to my particular involvement.

In the same way, I totally supported Gray Davis and knew in detail how unfair it was to recall him. Republicans (like Arnold) took cheap shots at his response to the energy crisis, but he did exactly what was recommended by the commission that studied the situation. I had been doing related work, actually read the commission report, and thus had special understanding.

@racocn8

I see. Thanks. I remember Gray Davis was blamed for being boring, not exciting. Now, it does not look like the Republicans have any strong candidate against Newsom if it comes to a recall election.

No link! What" dirt"???? And is it true, or another hoax? Bearinsg in mind that every time they run for office their opponents are digging.....

No link, my own observation.

Texas has been talking down California for at least 10 years that I have been seeing. Texas governor even ran commercials on California TV urging people to come to Texas and enjoy low taxes and business friendly environment. We have already heard how much Trump talked New York down at each opportunity and held Covid funds back.

This time, it is not just criticism. I think there are well funded and coordinating efforts by the Conservatives to... what turn them blue? Texas is celebrating and advertising Elon Musk, HWP and others moving to Texas.

@St-Sinner you are better than clickbait.....
