Has anyone else made Moonshine? I had a neighbor bring me a very professionally built reflux alcohol still because he had heard that I knew 'science stuff' . Distilling alcohol is pretty straightforward if you have a basic understanding of the processes of fermentation and distillation. I made a few batches for him just for fun but then he wanted me to teach him how to do it himself and frankly I was worried for his safety because he was a bit of a village . He took his still back and that is probably the last time that it was used.

Brewed some dark beer once. It was so potent I had to dilute it.

I make wine, we used to run a still in the lab .

If you know your way around a lab then distillation is a cake walk. Nicely Done.

Wine and cannabis oil. Honestly the wine making was so long ago I don't remember the recipe. Grape juice, yeast and sugar are all that I remember. And that it was some damned fine wine 🙂

Never made it. Tried some local stuff - YIKES! I could not drink it. Ended up using it in the last stage of Raku' fired pottery.
The high octane stuff creates a fast, hot, oxygen suckin' (reduction firing) environment perfect for Raku'. glazes.

A lot of home distillers tend to sell off their heads and tails, tails mostly as the heads can make you go blind but the heads just taste like wet cardboard. The Hearts are what you want and they need to be cut with spring water or distilled water to get them down to a drinkable level.

@Surfpirate Not much of a drink, helped make wine. Local grapes from Yakima Valley produced a lovely 2009 merlot.

We made a still from an old pressure cooker, copper tubing and compression fittings. Got some pretty strong hooch. 5 lb bag of corneal, 5 lb bag of sugars, 5 gal water and 5 packs of Red Star yeast to make the "beer". I don't drink anymore. Thought about making hand sanitizer last year.
