Lol, a co-worker and I were engaged in conversation about dating and I dropped the “A” word, agnostic. After his initial Christian inspired shock he asked me to reconsider if I wanted to find someone because “A belief in a higher being than themselves helps men keep their ego in check so that they can be better people and thus treat women better and with more respect, thus help you find a good guy.” Long story short uughhh.

Dropped the "A" word, agnostic, I always considered the "A" word to be atheist. . . .

I'm sure you already noted this to him but how in the world can believing you are special person loved by your all powerful god who will forgive your sins regardless of how outrageous you are as long as you believe in god; A god that devalues women and allows the father to "sell their daughter as a sex slave" Exodus 21:7-11, help men keep their ego in check? FACE PALM

The difference between agnostic and atheist is the amount of shock and awe felt by the other party in this case. Suppose I used agnostic to test the waters, where I work it can be best to keep stress to a minimum in my high stress enough job.

Face palm indeed. When he was bringing this up he also had trouble making eye contact too, he was visibly very uncomfortable lol. But how he got this philosophy is definitely beyond comprehension!

It would have great to have been asked about being an atheist, love their dumbfounded faces when the realize yes you can be successful with out the help of false idols. Nope, just work questions all day, bummer.

As much as I enjoy teaching thesits (in this case) "Nomack" how flawed their reasoning is, It really would be nice to have a place free of those who base their life on supersistions. I get enough face to face time with supersistious people in the not online world.

Don’t I worry about where I’ll be spending eternity?

Don't you worry about where you'll be spending eternity? Which eternity are we talking about? Your religion? My religion? Maybe one of the other 200+ religions in this world? The eternity that is so over-populated by souls with unfinished business that you'd want to die after one night of hearing a lifetimes worth of petulant regrets?

Why would you not allow a child to believe that there is a god. Because belief's that were led from up bringing only make you wonder and find your truths as false and everyone around you thinks you MUST believe in a god. Count the kind generous people who do not believe in god, then count the fake and unreal people who believe in god and go through life with double standards and contradictions of the way our lives should be led....
