What no seals? Here the buoys are often full of seals.

One of my brother's race boats was named "Jim Buoy" which we pronounced "boo-eey" so I prefer that pronunciation, over "boy" but it's still a clever meme. Another one of his boats was "Jim Dandy" and there were others, I can't remember. Yes, my brother's name is Jim.

That was my Fathers favorite musical artist Johnny Cash's song, My Dads first name was "Billie" because his sharecropping parents 1) didn't know that Billy was a nick name for William, and 2) thought Billy was a name reserved for goats. So he had a girls name, and I guess a "Boy named Sue" spoke to him.
Our last name is "Westbrook", and I loved it that in the TV Series "Oz" the Wicked Witch of the West had a secret mundane name "Billie Westbrook" which I thought was fitting as hell.
So once I gave up my dead name I picked "Willow" from another famous witch from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" but before that I had the nerd nickname of "Willow" from the Ron Howard movie "Willow" since I was dating someone that made me look like a dwarf at the time, yes, she was 6' 7" and left me for a college basketball player, I wished them well because the height difference has problems I never complained about out loud.
So in my fantasy world I'm the daughter of the Wicked Witch of the West because it's fun.

Cool

Love your story! As an aside, I never saw any Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I did "marry" Juliet Landau who I believe played a part in that series. I can't remember her character, but just thought I'd mentioned that she and her husband identified with my agnostic spiritual views on religion enough to ask me to be their wedding officiant!

@Julie808 Drusilla! Spikes main squeeze. Yes I was a big fan. Nothing like a tiny female facing the world of misogynic jerks and kicking all their asses without breaking a sweat. The show was great because of the humor. The same director did the Avengers movie, and Hulk kicking the crap out of Loki just after Loki going on about being a God is straight out of the Buffy Universe.

Awesome!

I had a male client who was named Shirley and on his marriage license, I could see that he was a Junior, and his dad's name was also Shirley. I kid you not, I saw it with my own eyes. This was years ago, and now I can't remember much about it, but I believe he went by his middle name.

@Julie808 Was he Irish? It is a British and Irish male first name. Of course we've all heard of Joyce Kilmer the author of Trees.

@barjoe I don't know... I didn't think to look at origin of birth of the father, or take note of it anyway. I likely have it in my files somewhere in my storage unit, since I have to keep records, but good to know that some names that seem feminine in America may not be in another country.

Surely you're joking? No I'm not joking, and don't call me Shirley !

@AlasBabylon Did you just make that up? No? Barstool joke.
