As some of you know, my employment over the past 6+ months has been taking calls to register & schedule Covid 19 vaccines, and now mostly Covid 19 testing. This morning was the most sobering call I have taken.

The caller asked to schedule Covid tests for himself and his family, and told me their other daughter had died at home 2 days ago, after having symptoms similar to what they are now having. The coroner who came to pick up the body told him it is 99% likely the young woman died of Covid, so they should all be tested. I saw as I scheduled them that none had been vaccinated against the virus.

I hope you and your loved ones are all vaccinated, masking, and avoiding likely exposures. And please remember: not everyone who tells you they are vaccinated, actually are.

Many folks are exercising good care, yet there is now a guy who is concerned over getting the timing right for his required Covid test, prior to boarding a Carnival floating germ capsule . . .

I go, masked, to buy groceries & the all-important dog food, and have outdoor lunch with a friend once a week.
Last night I went to someone's house and dined with 3 others for the first time since March of last year. I was a total wreck before & after....actually felt nauseous when upon return to my home the "high" of being so daring wore off......."people" are scary!
I find myself watching a movie & Cringing during any crowd scenes, and by "crowd" I mean more than 6.

I understand, and in 2 wks I will leave my little 13 month bubble of alone-at-home, to re-enter a small workplace. This is something I try not to think about, needing the income and opportunity, just holding good thoughts.

I stay at home and my brother gave me covid.....I was bitching for a week or more that he was sick and once I got it he went and got tested ...sure enough he had it ...he was vaccinated but he is diabetic...I was a lil scared and very pissed...it wasn't so bad ....im still tired but Im also pretty healthy although im fat

@tinkercreek My bff had to go back into the workplace many months ago and I worried like crazy initially, but they had temperature checks before entering the building, required masking which could only be removed in your own individual office, and required re-masking if anyone entered your office. Everyone has been very respectful, and they've all been safe so far.

I will hold good thoughts, and wish that type of respectful environment for you.

@Lauren Thank you! It's with the same healthcare system, lots of precautions in place, and I will certainly do everything I can - at least it's not a clinic full of patients and staff 😉

@tinkercreek I'm glad to hear it, and vaxxing has made all the difference this time around, so optimism is not misplaced. 🙂

I have wondered how anti vaxxers would respond if a leak of smallpox got out into the world and a third of infections resulted in death.
A number of labs still have smallpox on ice, especially the US and Russia who have experimented in making it a weapon.

I think we need to not dwell on other people's dumb mistakes. But the real problem is when young people have to pay for their parents mistakes. It's really sad how people put their own perceived ideas of freedom ahead of their own children. Can they get an appointment at this late date?

Covid testing is now readily available. The real question is whether or not they will get vaccines if not yet infected (dad got his flu shot last year, plus pneumonia). The ignorance is staggering.

@tinkercreek My closest friends are in this crowd. They say they will get tested (and probably think it will always turn out negative). This county has a vaccination rate of 75% (if one includes those that have received the first shot it goes up to 85%). I got to thinking the 15% difference must also include children who cannot yet get the vaccine so the un-vaxxed crowd is very small. Yet they hang on and no one really understands why.

In the past I also had a reaction to the flu shot and often did not get it. This year I did and had no ill effects. Some time ago I did a blood antigen test and found some foods which my body had a reaction. I eliminated them so that could have been one reason. I had absolutely no reaction the the Covid shot but a friend was sick for two days.

Most anti-vaxxers have been INDOCTRINATED with false and misleading "news." People who concoct and spread such news are, from a practical standpoint, murderers.

I would agree.

I find it extremely sad that it takes the threat of death to force some people to act in their own best interests. (And even the threat of death does not convince those who can best be described as the idiots / the brain dead.)

It is both infuriating and deeply saddening that people behave in such irrational ways, and are personally responsible for deaths in their own families. Yet, they refuse to do what is right and deny responsibility.
