Originally, the shaking of hands was to show there was no weapon, then became a formal greeting. It also was used in making deals. Fist bumps, I think were started by gangs then made its way into the music industry, from there it was adopted by germaphobes as an alternative to handshakes and high fives. High fives began with kids to celebrate then spread to the masses. 🙂

None.
I prefer not to shake hands or other touching in that respect.
I wash my hands often throughout the day, especially if I've been in public.

Depends on what I do or where I go, and access to doing so.
Two, three times at least.

Depends on what movie people have seen recently.

Hand shake is more intimate . Fist bump is for germophobes . High fives are definitely a celebration

A handshake could be considered more formal, whereas the other two are more casual.

degree of touching

a handshake comes from times when people carried weapons a lot and is a sign of trust. from being sectioned in my case anyway, I found a fist bump something the staff did rather than shake my hand.

The "Handshake" was original a way of showing you did not have a weapon.

Ease of disease transmission.

A traditional handshake is personal. I use them to "seal" agreements all the time at work. A fist bump means pretty close to nothing.

Each is a valid form of greeting for different people. I know which to use with which friends.
