Hi friends. My mom passed away yesterday. I was by her side when she went, with my brother and 2 of his daughters. I've lost my best friend but am okay because she is no longer battling dementia. She was a incredible woman and I am proud to have been her daughter.

I’m deeply saddened for your loss and I understand as years ago I lost the greatest man I’ve ever know, my father it was extraordinarily painful but I knew he was free from his wrecked body and intractable pain

I am so sad to hear about your mom. Life seems unfair and yet it is progressing as usual! No one and nothing last forever and yet it hurts like it should have lasted! My heart goes out to you!

Thank you so much.

Hang in there. I've lost my Dad already, & my Mom is 89 on Monday, so I walk on eggshells, so to speak. Condolences & best wishes!

Thank you.

Best Wishes during your mourning times. My mom is 91 I think we are prepared but then again... is our Mom. My Sympathy.

Its hard but she needed to pass. No quality of life. Thank you.

@Presley1209 Quality of Life is Very Important, my grandmother passed on a Saturday when she wss scheduled to have a leg removed on a Monday. And I understood it was her choice.

Sorry for your loss, l lost my father who had Alzheimer's on the 18 of December last year and my mother has dementia. I took care of them for a year before we placed them in a home. Hardest decision I've ever made. Hang in there it gets easier but you'll get these memories of them when you hear phrase or see something they liked. Beautiful memories.

Yes, it was so hard watching her decline. Thank you for your kind words.

I don’t know how you did it ... not one but both parents you earned your stripes

I am surely sorry for you.I guess you and I have a date in common . My daughter killed herself 3 years ago yesterday. I share this not for pity or to make you fell bad. I was a zombie for 18 months. Losing a close loved one is so very difficult. You have my heart and my sou filled with positive energy. I know what it is. My Day died 2 yrs ago this May. My Mom got sick, but she came around. She is 88. Yes, she plans on being with Dad in Heaven. I am sure they will be together whereever they are. My daughter Wendy is gone, but lives in my heart.

Oh, that is so sad, I am sorry you have to live with that pain each day. I know mama is better off now.

I am sorry for your loss. My mother too died from complications of dementia, so I understand the harship she endured.

Isn't it awful? I feel we are all freed of this disease. Thank you.

2

How lucky you both were to be together when she left this world. The pain will pass eventually and your loving memories will stay with you forever.

Yes, I was happy I was by her side. She was so special to so many people. Thank you.

It's sad to know that your beloved mother is no longer with you. I know the pain you feel, since I lost mine many years ago, (she was only 40..) but you know what? Count on me, if you need me...! Quetiendote

Thank you so much!

I'm very sorry about your mom. When mine passed several years ago, one thing I was told that has stuck with me and proven itself to be true is, "you'll never get over it, but you will get through it." I think you have a great support group here, don't be afraid to use it if you need it.

I love that line! Thank you for sharing it, its very profound.

My sincere condolences. People lose a lot when they have dementia but they never lose emotions. Love remains

A little relieved?

Yes, very much so actually. She was gone a long time ago, if you know what I mean.

@Presley1209 yes

Thank you. My mom was the best woman I have ever known. We had many kids live with us cuz their home life sucked.

Farewell to your mom. She sounds like a wonderful person, who raised a wonderful daughter. She left her legacy in you. I'm sure she was incredibly proud of you. I'm sorry she had to live with dementia. It is a hard disease to battle.

Awww, thank you. Its a horrible disease and no one should have to "live" like that.
