Tell me about the times you had to bite your tongue around either a religious family member or your ex significant others family.
I'll start. My ex boyfriend's mother said prayer should be back in schools because "a little god never hurt anybody".
There was so much I could say but settled for bringing up separation of church and state and Thomas Jefferson....she didn't know he was one of the us presidents and didn't know he was a founding father.....my tongue practically came off!

At my Father's Funeral recently. If asked a direct question I would have answered truthfully though.

I've dealt with plenty of folks who think prayer should be back in public schools and that the nation's original motto was in g-- we trust, and I politely respond to them by saying this simple phrase- E Pluribus Unum, most of the times that shuts them up at least for a little while anyway.

Seriously every day on Facebook or at work when someone post or says something religious about "the greatness of god"

I try to ask myself, "what would be the value in responding?" I'm not likely to convince anyone they're crazy and are adults with invisible friends. I would like to say that's is an effective technique. It works for a few minutes. But I usually run my mouth and debate them.

Too many to say, although I'm hard pressed to cite an example
I'm not one to hold back, especially if asked or confronted by religious nonsense, but I choose my battles so to speak.

Anytime someone says God Bless you, or just bless you. I have to resist the urge to say " no thank you. Im good. "

I still say "bless you" and then get pissed at myself every single time. What can I say? I'm still a little programmed, I guess.

@Naills1675 I do the same thing! I'm trying to switch over to gesundheit which just means health...I think. Could be prost.

My partner's family is very religious and once they start drinking they bash on "liberals" and talk about how evolution is fake. Being an atheist biologist--one whose concentration involves evolution, makes the situation extremely awkward for me. My partner usually decides it's a good time to take me home at that point because I can't help but to sigh loudly everytime they say something counter to science. Lol.

My son in law is big against evolution. My daughter knows better. I told her once there are fossils in a museum in Kenya for crying out loud.

Peers (not exactly family but we spend tons of hours working together) ..... we conduct ourselves as best buddies but they don't have a clue I am not a bible freak like them..... at times (a lot) I had to bite my tongue, rather keep my work environment in peace
