Say hello and goodbye to Buster. Took this photo a few days ago. About 10 months ago my cat Hobo died after being with me 17 years. After a couple of months I adopted Buster, he was just 3 years old. He got sick a few weeks ago and I took him to the vet. Took blood and prescribed an antibiotic. The next day blood work came back and the numbers were terrible, some as high as 10 times what they should be, kidney failure. He perked up a little after the first few days of meds but then went downhill, didn't eat or drink the previous day and was getting weaker, back to the vet. Since he was such a young cat, doc wondered if he might have cancer. Looked at kidneys using a sonogram and discovered his kidneys were deformed, nothing could be done. Vet recommended putting him to sleep.
On a plus note, at least he had a good 6 months here with lots of toys and attention vs shelter life. Hoping my final days are as good. The house is quiet now, but not for long. Contacted the shelter and they have reactivated my application. After I give the house a good cleaning, time to pick out a new cat.
I'm real sorry for your losses, brother. On the upside, I'm very thankful that you are such a dedicated and thoughtful cat owner. Your commitment to their care is evident from your post. I am comforted by the care you took of Hobo and Buster and look forward to you finding the furball that needs your help next.
Thank you. My take is, if you have a pet, treat it like you would want to be treated.
Losing a beloved pet is hard. Over recent years, I have lost two of the best little friends I have e ever had. Nothing an replace either one of them. but I have some fine memories of them. .
The first cat was with me so long, his death affected me more. Buster was here such a short time, we were just getting bonded and learning from each other. Both are missed and will be remembered.
