It's the best system humans have yet devised so there has existed plenty of opportunity to find something else. Jury's put at least 10% of innocent people in jail, too.

I suspect a lion's share of that innocent 10% are non-whites where the prosecutor knows they're innocent, but pursues them for his own political ambition. KR's case was rife with judicial misconduct and partisan manipulation.
I have no doubt that's a factor, even a big factor, but our society has known of it and jury's could resist such strategies. If I were King we would put more energy into teaching honest, transactional, Civics so that people understood responsibilities of citizenship better and could spot such manipulation while serving on a jury. I'm often impressed by jury verdicts, however, so maybe folks are doing that better than some of us think. Eh?
In Kyle's case, as in any case, the public's opinion of Courtroom events mean zip. Elect better Judges or simply demand a better society in general and make it happen. The Appeals Court will weigh such charges and they will make the legal calls. The observers of our system (public) are called upon to respect the judgments reached and treat those found not guilty as any other free citizen. I am of the opinion that OJ is not guilty and owes nobody anything because he didn't do it. I know there's another story but it should mean nothing to society as per our legal agreements with each other. We can't have mobs deciding Justice and that's what they did to OJ. Blacks feel he was railroaded by racist whites so I'm tired of whites claiming to know anything about racism at all. Even those who are well intentioned about helping. In Kyle's case he killed white folks so I don't see a racial angle at all. Whatever, the jury found him not guilty so it matters not. The reaction from those of us who think our opinions should replace the Justice agreement will matter. It will matter in the 2022 vote. That's my argument.
@rainmanjr I wouldn't have thought that anyone really believed OJ's defense. Did any particular argument seem persuasive?
In KR's case, his actions, and those of his mother, resulted in two deaths, and a severe dismemberment. Whether judge, prosecutor or jury or laws need to be changed, he should face a serious penalty.
For some charges, where truth is pivotal, but cannot be established, people could be questioned under sedation and/or monitored by an MRI, or at least given that choice, to determine guilt or innocence.
@racocn8 It's not about what I, or anyone else, believes to be true. It's about JUSTICE and LAW. Law creates the idea of Justice but that's just nonsense. Justice has no arc because it doesn't exist. It is whatever LAW determines it is.
I'm done with the KR conversations. Be angry. IDC. Neither does law.
