Thanksgiving is over. Now it's time to decide if you want to say/write/type merry Christmas or Merry Xmas....the war has begun.
Me?
I'm decorating my Christmas tree and greeting folks who I suspect are #religulous with a "Merry Christmas" -
And yea, I'll be decorating a tree...
But I was raised to do so. I've even heard it called a Hannukah bush.
And I know that the holiday was celebrated originally as the end of Solstice - long before there even were religions - on the conclusive day - the 25th...when the sun began to "return"....
but I know who will "take offense" to this = and it won't be us agnostics.
Christianity = If I don’t get preference and make the rules then I’m discriminated against
Celebration of the holidays we are about to begin has no meaning for me any longer. Living alone I have no need of it in any form but I hope others have a great time. It should be a magical time for anyone with children.
My kids have never had a big excitement about it, altho my youngest did believe in Santa until he was about 11. My oldest saw right through that early on.
Talking with a friend his daughter was enthralled with XMas, son not at all.
Along with your post Denno, this has me curious about Kids' attitudes towards the holiday. A new thought in my already overcrowded brain.
Speaking for myself, when I was kid.....Oh Yeah ! ..Christmas, Bring it on!
I celebrate holidays all year long. They are not just for religious people.
Read the memes. I've basically said that.
