To all the English contributors out there, how will you be celebrating St. George's day? Especially seeing as he was a Turkish man who was executed for annoying a Pagan Emproper. He also Usurped a perfectly good patron saint in Edmund the martyr. George did not save a Libian princess from a dragon either. Its just stuff and nonsense. I am likely to do what I always do...like most English types...ignore it. See you on the other side

Far more interesting fact for this day - on the 23rd of April 2005, the very first Youtube video was published 🙂

Really? Actually that is more interesting

I'm not actually English, but having lived here for many years and sounding very English, I'll celebrate it in the way I always do - not at all, partly because saints are so much woo just like all other religious concepts and partly because I loathe that particular form of patriotism with which St. George's Day has become associated. In fact, until seeing this post I had no idea it even was St. George's Day.

Ha Ha - A large proportion of English folk celbrate St Patricks day because it's an event put on by a Real community within a town or its an event that is sponsored by Drink manufactuer. St Georges day simply isnt. It really is that simple. Isn't it. (I actually thought St George was Irish in origin and he killed dragons and stuff) Oh . . Isnt it Shirley Temple day today as well.

Really?

Yeh, lets drink Blue Nun on Shirley Temple Day.

I was raised Greek Orthodox and the celebration of name days (saint days) are more important than birthdays. Ugh!! I just can't anymore. My mother still tells me every May 21st "happy name day, I know you don't care". I just shake my head at her and carry on.

I'll ignore it too. Religious holidays aren't for me. More English people went out for St Patrick's until they dug up Nigel Farage to bait everyone lol ? ?

My spelling...Emperor

@kenriley Can I come?

I celebrate St. Georges day by ignoring it. It is another Tory, fascist celbration of fake political propaganda while they asset strip Britain on behalf of the USA corporates and replace TTIP with BREXIT. LOL

Absolutely agree brother!

LOL..St George's Day? My brother in law (my Sister's husband) gets his own holiday? I'll admit he is as close to a saint as anyone is going to get in my family. He is a career paramedic and now Captian in the LA fire department and Father to two beautiful daughters (Prairie (named after my Mother) and Sienna) but how come there isn't a St. Scott's Day? 😉

Nope. 🙂

Nope what?

@Amisja nope, won't be celebrating an english anything, nor a christian one, or a forgien one that has nothing to do with us. Wouldn't let the george cross, cross my doorway. Scottish and proud, with a little Welsh and Irish thrown in, 😉 Not only that, I like dragons.

@Savage Well I'm English but consider myself an earth dweller
