Has anyone had any luck with the IDme site where we need to upload pics of our DL or passport before we can file taxes?
I also do not feel at all comfortable with giving that much sensitive information to a private company and how did one company get an inclusive contract to collect the personal data of + million Americans.

Not that I have had to upload it to. No.
Not for something I am obligated to do such as pay taxes.
And the IRS designated one single company out of thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, of companies that could possibly save a facial pic.
And why can't I directly load an image to the IRS from own device?
@BufftonBeotch you're a bit paranoid? That info, like Everything about you (SS #, DOB, residences, work history, health, marriages/liasons, possessions, etc etc etc, is & has-been readily available about you for probably Decades, and so what?

Yeah. My passport to who now?
There are several gov. sites that rely on them. I don't use them. I still use the other methods. I don't know how long I am going to be able keep from using them. I am very uncomfortable about them considering the data breach with IRS records a few years ago.

PS I still mail mine in. Complete on the computer, print and mail.
I'm not comfortable with the technology, which has historically had flaws, and I think it was premature to require it for something we're required to do (as opposed to shopping at a store). I might be doing it your way this year.

@BufftonBeotch In my case it's only the same stuff on W-2's, 1099's, and other stuff they already have. They DON'T know and aren't going to learn about a lot of more personal stuff. (Unless they have planted bugs in various places.)
