An absolute " Oh WOW" situation. Finished read thru all the paperworks and pamphlets from the "my aged care" services group that their Rep. left with me after her assessment visit this morning, plus my copy of what services, etc, she recommends that I should have be they either permanent of short-term as well.
Aged care has cone a very long way since even when my parents were in the retirement age group etc.
Got my hairy butt kicked, verbally on one point though, my detection sensors are ALMOST as as the dinosaurs and SHOULD have been replaced about 7 years ago.
And as we chatted and she looked around the house she drew up a list of Improvements that need to be made for MY safety, I kind of already realized about those but have been putting on hold until I can get my finances looking a lot better.
But now they can be done via a Government Scheme where I need ONLY a set amount and the Government covers the rest.
Might sound a bit wrong but when you consider exactly HOW much you in Income Taxes, G.S.T, etc, etc, every year of your working life and what they are " generous" enough to give you back as Tax Rebate and then hit you up Institutions taxes and fees when YOUR rebate goes in to YOUR banking account it all adds up to them shafting you and expecting YOU to smile sweetly and thank THEM.
So, taking her advice I opted for about 70- 80% of what was on offer/available.

You have paid for all of these services already please take advantage of them.

Agree 100%, I started pay 'tax' when I got a part-time job on the Silverton Tramways here as a Cinder-box Cleaner at years of age, paid a hefty farthing a week on a wage of 1 shilling and 2 pence a week ( BIG money to an 8 year old btw) and until I was put on to the Disability Pension, now, as my daughter would laugh and say if she were alive today, I'm on "the Old Farts Pension."
You pay a fortune in taxes through the nose to the Government and each year they TRY tell you how 'generous' they are by giving (LOL) you back what, imo, amounts to no more than an ants piss of a rebate in return.

You pay into it all your working life so you should get what you can while you can. It's better than nothing. You know what the difference is between the government and organized crime? With one you get what you pay for and the other double charges. Guess which is which.
Money is the root of all scams.

Get what you can.

Grab all you can. As you rightly say, you earned it.
Studies have shown it is cheaper for people to stay home than enter care facilities, so they should bend over to keep you home.

We've talked about moving into a residential motel rather than a care home when the time comes. Housekeeping is done, you can get your meals, & laundry done, security locks, private rooms.....

@Lilac-JadeCanada Sounds good to me, my visitor/advisor from the my aged care services told me that I can opt for between 3 and 5 meals per week, usually 2 -3 courses per week costing just a measly $10 per meal DELIVERED to my door and here's me now TRYING to lose weight and having gone from 127.8 kilos on the 14th. of Feb, by the Hospital scales down to 122.1 kilos by my new bathroom scales today and me using the stark naked as well.
Plus she can organise getting some adaptations and adjustments made around the house such as ramp-ways instead of steps, etc, organised and done with them ONLY costing me an average between $25 and $50 per job and the list goes on and on.

@Triphid Yeah, some things can't be avoided. When I needed my first hip replaced, I began collecting things....bath chair, cane, walker, tub grips, scrubbers, to help me with cleaning the house between my monthly housekeeper visits, etc. We also drive mobility scooters, but they were covered by our medical.
