My recalation is we didn't listen to tapes. We listened to what was on the radio this was in the 70's, 80's and early 90's so you can use your imagination. I recall mostly soft rock and pop.

Cars in my childhood only had radios and in Oklahoma they only played country and western.

My dad was not fond of country and western music so he did not play the radio. He played the record player at home and it was always jazz and blues. He owned a nightclub that featured country and western music 90% of the time. Once he had Harry James though and interestingly it was sold out.

On the way to church Sundays the Only radio station played polkas & the announcer spoke 100% in Polish. In SE Connecticut.

Lucky bastard, all I got was Hank William, Charlie Pride and Tom T. Hall.

My dad died when I was 11 months old, so no idea,

Probably bad but possibly good, I would have traded you mine for a peanut butter sandwich,

Dad never had a car.

Where was this?

@St-Sinner Rochester, NY.

@Reignmond

I did not think it was possible to go around in the US w/o a car except may be in Washington DC or NYC. How did you as a family, kids go around?

@St-Sinner
Walked or bus. Rochester is/was a fairly compact city and we lived not far outside of the downtown area. We were quite poor. This was also 50 years ago and cars were not quite as ubiquitous.

@Reignmond

Thank you.

All we had all life overseas was a bicycle, I can't give any memories, you guys go....

In the US, I played Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Queen, Cat Stevens, Eric Clapton, Barbara Streissand for my daughter from her age 3 to 10. Prior to it, we just played Rabbit Ears stories non-stop. Disney was blacklisted in the house. I did not want her to wait for someone to give her anything but achieve all on her own. She later started to want me to change bedtime stories to make the princess go rescue the prince on a glass mountain in stories.
