Evil is not something supernatural. It is simple cruelty, the willful infliction of pain on others, the desire to do harm.

And by the same token, grace is not supernatural either. It lies squarely within the range of human potential. And the Ukrainian people are certainly demonstrating it in their defiance of the evil that confronts them today.

Sadly there will always be those who will differ with what ever definition/s one decides to use on ANY subject/subject matter.
for example, the old adages comes mind here,
a) What is one mans evil ids another's good,
b) What one describes as being Terrorism is another's version of being a Freedom Fighter, and of course we have the most poignant example of them all by far,
c) "We are bringing the knowledge and love of God to those who do not believe in him so they can be saved." Which was one the usual things heard as the Spanish conquered almost everything south of what would later become the U.S., but those " converts NEVER got see another sunrise mostly because they were strangled to death or simply burned to death at the Stake.
But we shall NOT mention here, shall the absolute atrocities committed by the American Settlers, etc, against the Native American Indian Tribes, no shall we?

There is no question that the United States of America committed genocide against native Americans. And slavery was common in many states for 400+ years. And Jim Crow held sway for way too long after the Civil War. And there is is still demagoguery, racism, and corruption in this country. This country is not perfect. But we have come a long way in improving ourselves. Progress is often halting, but we are getting by better. And we should never let our dark history and imperfection prevent us from calling out and combatting evil whenever or wherever we see it.

@Flyingsaucesir So may one ask, WHEN is the present Ethos within the vaunted halls and corridors of both the U.S. Governments and the filming Lots, etc, of Hollywood going to change and actually BEGIB to show and tell the TRUTH, the FACTS, etc, etc?

@Triphid
There are some good books, movies, plays, songs, and poems that accurately represent current and past events. But you're right, there are also many school districts where the history (and/or science) textbooks sadly misrepresent reality. We need to keep the pressure on them.

@Flyingsaucesir Friend I have been doing exactly that since the cows first went out to pasture, you see, even though I was born and raised in Australia, have Native Aussie Heritage, some Welsh, Irish, English, etc, etc, I also have both Cherokee and Navajo Heritage as well in my blood.
Or, as my Dad would often refer to us, his children, the ORIGINAL and the Best Heinz 57 kids.

@Triphid
Keep the faith baby! 😎👍

Agree, the ability to do evil or exercise grace are human traits, not supernatural, and the healthiest of us can see that the world is a better place in the light of grace rather than the darkness of evil.

Humans who fall into the addiction of power and greed ignore what little conscience humanity has tried to instill in them, and they do not care about the pain and unfairness they inflict on others. Humans who embrace the desire for harmony, fairness and natural consequences often have to fight for their due.

While it's nice to think the meek shall inherit the earth, that is not reality, but it's the strong who can say no to the weakness of selfishness and greed who should be the leaders. Hopefully the strength of those with grace will someday overtake those in power who have evil intentions.

I guess that's what makes the world interesting and keeps us fighting the good fight. There would be no reason to teach goodness if not for evil, so there we stand.

The good will likely never overtake evil, but hopefully we can keep it in check.

In actuality, there is no such thing in nature as 'evil.' This is a human construct regarding behavior towards humans. Often tribes have their own standards of 'evil' and some of us, including myself, believe in some things others would consider evil. In reality, Mother Nature is a beastly dictator and she cares not for any forms living or not (look at how planets, stars or even galaxies get destroyed in an instant). Even if life (including humans) followed all the rules we could be annihilated in an instant. Dinosaurs are proof of this.

Evil is not supernatural. Putin is evil and he is not supernatural either.
