Hey! The smoke alarm is quite often my kitchen timer! How will she know when dinner is done? Haha!

I was not kidding btw, for the first few years, until T finally managed to actually teach her how to prepare and cook meals, even the dogs would refuse to eat them and I was thankful to working as a Cab Driver and could buy edible foods to eat on the job.
I used to regularly do that when my wife cooked in our old house, since the alarm would always go off if smoke built up in the kitchen.
