"This unbridled assault on the rights of women is all part of what author Tanya Melich labeled “The Republican War on Women,” also the title of her 1996 book."

Ever since, whenever Dems would call out Republicans as having a "war on women", the GQP would go nuts denying it.

I had occasion to call an old friend who has gone Republican because of his fondness for guns. When I knew him, he had liberal attitudes and was at least agnostic if not atheist. Seconds into the call, he began spouting denunciations of various democrats. He began a tirade defending the SCOTUS Roe finding.

It was bizarre. He threw out Kamala Harris for no particular reason. He brought up Planned Parenthood, denouncing that because it was founded by Margaret Sanger, and denouncing her (presumably because of her advocacy of eugenics). And then he threw out Barbara Boxer's name. That seemed crazy: She's been out of office for years so why bring her up?

In looking up the war on women, the Wikipedia entry mentions Barbara Boxer in the first paragraph as a politician who used the term: war-on-women. Thus, it's certain that Fox has been harping on Boxer after having looked up this entry, and then from Fox to my friend's ears.

When I knew him, my friend was far from religious and had no affinity for Pro-life nonsense, but he's on board now. At this point, even though he's alone and at death's door, I'm ready to give up on him. The friend I knew is already dead.

I remember visiting nursing homes where those in their last days were calling out with gibberish and screams. That's where we are now.
