I go out not long ago to feed the birds and get summoned over to the dividing fence by a voice and face that I am unfamiliar with coming from the Evangeloon residence.
Now the R.O. on Evangeloon does NOT include visitors, etc, to his abode, only him then I decide to see what this person wants from me.
" Matt has asked me to keep an eye on his place while he has had himself re-admitted to hospital because of a few problems ( the thought that went through my mind was "a few problems but a multitude of them) which he hopes will be addressed and sorted out this time.
He also has asked me to remain living here for as long as he needs me to be his Carer and to guard the house to make certain that it does not get broken in to and things are stolen as well, do you know about or hear of who those thieves and vandals may have been by any chance so I can more watchful?"
"So, he has you as his unpaid, pseudo guard dog and general dogs body now does he, may I ask how much, if you don't mind, rent he is expecting you to pay him for your services, oh, and those person to whom he and yourself refer to as being "thieves and vandals" were NOT so in any way shape, nor form since they were accompanied by a Police Officer, an Officer of the Court and had LEGAL papers allowing them to enter and recover items, etc, of THEIR own property that Mr. Payne had "borrowed" from them over the last 10 years and refused to return, so I guess either his memory is conveniently failing in some area or he refuses to admit, still, that all his troubles he is now suffering under are very much self-induced, IF I were you I would pack my bags and head as far away from him as you possibly can because I do NOT think that all his troubles with the locals whom he seemingly has swindled and cheated, etc, etc, are quite over as yet."
With that, I bid him a Good Morning, turned around headed back inside my home to enjoy the peace and quiet again.

He sounds like a manipulative psychopath, what my mom would call a silver tongued devil. At least he is back in the hospital and not making trouble in the neighbourhood for a while.

Where does he find these people that are so willing to help him out?

Betty Level 8 June 17, 2022

Psychopaths are accomplished liars. They keep getting away with telling lies until the proverbial brown stuff hits the fan, which is why people were so willing to help in the first place, and why he is now at risk of being given a thorough kicking in the face and guts.

I have studied one psychopath at first hand. He has extreme difficulty forming any sort of close personal bond with anybody else, and I gather from other sources that this is a common issue with psychopaths. @Triphid may be able to cast more light on this.

@anglophone That describes him to a tee.

@anglophone Psychopath or Sociopath ?
I have my opinions as to which however and I tend lean towards him having a percentage of both traits as a well as Narcissistic tendencies with a whole lot of, to coin a phrase here, a Holier than Thou attitude tossed in for extra measure.
Maybe, just MAYBE, this time his hospital treatments MAY go quite some way to reducing/alleviating these and the outcomes may make a decent, well almost, decent human being out of him, NOTE, I did say MAY.

@Triphid Thanks for sharing that insight. In my extremely limited experience, change only happens if the person being treated has a significant desire to change, and even then the road can be long and painful.

@Triphid Would that also mean his treatment would include medication and would he be trusted to be consistent in maintaining a routine?

@Betty Yes most definitely and in his case they will most likely use a type of slow release, sub-cutaneously injected form/s of medications, usually those forms release a measured dosage daily over periods ranging from weeks to months at a time.
And he would be on a type of Parole system where he either attends ALL scheduled meeting and sessions or MUST be able to lodge undeniable reasons as why he failed to attend even one of them.
If he fails at that then they consider even harsher actions and treatments, etc.
If his future treatments were up to me that would be exactly what I would be using.

@Triphid Would he be under a guardianship?

@Betty No idea at present since that decision will be made by, I assume, by a panel of 3 including the Psychiatrist, the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital and the Court Magistrate IF and when deemed necessary.

@anglophone No probs there mate.

@Triphid @Betty Sheesh, I didn't know guardianship was a thing for adults in this country. Let me get this straight: if he fails to attend even one meeting without lawful excuse he could be forcibly detained in a mental health facility?

@anglophone In my country, if an adult is judged mentally unfit to make decisions on their personal and/or financial circumstances they could be placed under guardianship.

Since both Canada and Australia are part of the Commonwealth, I would hazard a guess that it would be similar.

@Betty I will check. Thanks for getting back to me.

@anglophone My pleasure. 🙂

@anglophone, @Betty is correct there that can happen but, unfortunately the making of such a decision takes quite a length of time in some cases and there is whole lot of paper-work, etc, etc, involved and needs to be done correctly as well.
My present guess is that may well try him on the courses of slow-release, long acting meds first and then see what eventuates from there.

@Triphid Thank you for saving me the time to research into that. He is the captain of his own future, and it will be his choice, and his choice alone, if he chooses to run the SS Payne onto the rocks.

@Triphid As it should. To strip a person of their autonomy is a very serious matter. All available avenues of treatment should be eliminated before it is an option. I agree with your guess that medication and therapy would most likely be tried first and for his sake, I hope they work well in helping to balance out his behaviour. It would be nice for you to eventually have a more reasonable neighbour, although less entertaining for us.

Too bad medication wouldn't lessen his belief in a sky-daddy.

JFC It never ends with that pos.

Kinda gives quite hint as to why his family have recently turned against then doesn't it.

He needs an asylum, not a hospital.

Mr Payne has clearly been extremely "economical with the actuality". [abc.net.au]

What else could one expect from an accomplished arse-wipe as is my neighbour?
