The sequoias are burning (again). You might well ask why this post is in the "politics" category. It's not because it isn't a science subject, or a news item. It's because our failure to address the root cause of climate change is a political problem. One of our political parties has been totally captured by the big bucks of the fossil fuel industry.

Sequoia seeds will not grow unless they are first burned.

18 out of the 20 largest fires in California history occured since 2003.

14 out of the 20 largest fires in California history occured since 2012.

9 out of the 20 largest fires in California history occured since 2020.

Do you see the trend?

@Flyingsaucesir

You don’t think that has anything to do with the floristry restrictions they put in place????

I live next to Bank Head National Forest and we have Controlled burns every spring. We haven’t had a forest fire in ages.

Liberal policies get liberal results

@CourtJester Look CJ, I really don't give two shits what you think. If you want to go on being an ignorant bore, that is your prerogative. However, if you want to know how things really are vis-a-vis climate science, I suggest to find out what climate scientists are saying.

@Flyingsaucesir
You don’t give two shits how California could change the problem???

Climate scientist are paid to say what they say. I tend to listen to the scientists that no longer work in the climate science world.

Climate change is a way to make you pay more in taxes and supporting the process. Which you are clearly on board with. California also gets MILLION$$$$$$ in federal dollars every time they have a forest fire. Did you ever wonder why California consistently has more forest fires each year than any other state in the country. More than other countries have each year.

I suppose global warming is only happening in California then.

@CourtJester Jesus Fucking Christ, CJ. Pull your head out man. It's happening the world over. But you know what? I'm not going to waste my time listing all the ways its happening here. If you can't see it, there is nothing I can say to convince you. So you just toddle on and be you. Whatever. I have better things to to.

@Flyingsaucesir

If you had a supportive argument, you would have proved me wrong.

@CourtJester Dude, the evidence is so massive, so extensive, I could not begin to list it all here. Besides, I have already given you plenty to chew on in previous posts. It's obvious that you have your blinders on, and you are not going to do your homework. This is goodbye CJ. I'm done with you.

@Flyingsaucesir
Have a nice angry evening.
