First Nations should not accept the Pope’s apology. I will never understand how anyone can continue in the Catholic Church.

If truly recalcitrant, the church can pay for programs promoting indigenous language, customs, culture to try to make good on what they destroyed. A mere apology isn’t much.

Words only have value when followed by positive action.

Just read an article in the Seattle Times and the parish has closed two churches due to funding problems in light of all the law suites and crimes committed by the church. I suspect this is going on across the whole country and probably internationally. The big problem is that, aside from apologizing, seems little the Poop is willing or can do the change this situation. We can only hope it spells the4 demise of this corrupt institution. There have been some calls for at least the Catholic Church to abandon their missionary programs.

Or any other church. They all have the same problems.
Without also turning over the offenders and church records documenting claims against them, the apology is empty.

I have no loyalties to any church.

Apologies are only good to those who offer them, the other party remains fucked and always will.

I hope they make the rcc bleed money for years.

I wonder what the Catholic Church does to prevent sexual misconduct from happening again! If anything?

Not a damn thing. The RCC is rotten to the core.

@ADKSparky I am suspecting that you are right.

Accept the apology as it's an admittance of guilt, then sue sue sue.

Fuck the rcc.
Frankie isn't that impressive.
It's easy to say you're sorry.
It's much harder to sell off enough real estate to pay reparations to all the tribes that were decimated by the church.

At least in America, the Catholic Church has done two positive things for a long time that the Protestant churches have not. One is being on the side of the poor and against poverty and economic inequality. Second is their opposition to the death penalty. Outside of those things, not much good I can say about them.

Side of the poor bollocks. 10% oh yee faithful. Not to mention the priceless artworks/ gold etc stored at the Vatican, a city state. When's the last time the Vatican opened it's gates to "the poor"?

@puff As I said, I was talking specifically about the American Catholic church. Do you have a reading problem, or are you just thick?

@OldMetalHead Then why is it the mega churches and most evangelical churches don't help the poor as much as the Catholics seem too?

@TomMcGiverin who do you think runs the American Catholic Church, all Catholic Churches? That nation state that has foreign interference down pat.

@puff I grew up Catholic and know way more than you about how it works in the US. Most American Catholics, including a lot of the priests, pay mostly lip service to the Vatican, as well as the American Catholic heirarchy, on its policies that are strongly conservative, anti gay, misogynistic and harmful to other countries.

The Satanic church must stand in awe of all the damage that the Catholic Church has done. Satanic church pales in comparison
