Been in the ER for 4 hours now. Was taken to a room after only a few minutes waiting. Passed out in the shower earlier today. Passing out being the main concern. My swollen ass not so much. Hope they release me soon. I'm starving.
Fucking hospitals. Taking forever, no food, no drink. I yelled at the nurses to get this IV out my arm now or I was taking it out myself. Took it out and I left. I'll get the final results of the CT scan tomorrow. 7 1/2 hours was plenty long for me to stay. Getting something to eat and going to bed.
Ok .
Well .
Nobody came to pick u up and take u to ER against your will . I always say , u come to me , I did not come to u . If u don’t like it , leave . No problem , bye .
Swollen anus or abdominal pain will always be miles behind chest pain , double vision / neuro symptoms . Somebody else was there b4 u having a STEMI . Or a stroke . Or a bone sticking out . Abdominal pain / GI symptoms / are not a priority except if u are bleeding by mouth or butt .
Your symptoms involved GI part . U ain’t gonna ear or drink . Period . If CT shows something serious , your ass will be taken to GI lab for an EGD ( scope ). Anesthesia is involved . Nobody is going to prison bcz u want food .
Taking your IV out . Really ? I bet nurses loved to see u go . Absolutely nobody has x to start a new one just bcz u decided u want it out . We can’t treat u with magic . We need access . Especially if we don’t know wtf is wrong w u , and what’s next for u .
The people at the hospital are not your enemies bro . They have no desire to see u at anytime . But here u are . They don’t get extra pay if u stay there longer . They are not purposely have u wait . It’s called triage . The sickest will get treatment first . Also , we do not own the CT scans . And every hospital has that many . Is not like the CT folks sit on their ass and refuse to scan people . It’s a f mad house every f night . People get sick . We try to help u .
@FvckY0u taking your iv out is not about the 30 seconds . It’s about , especially if u fainted at home , I will need access if your ass has a cardiac emergency right there again . Everyone in emergency room gets two iv sites . In case I need them for life saving drugs .
Your ekg which I am sure they did , it only shows that much . U adding hematuria to the picture , yeah , I sure shit I need your iv to stay where it is , and u are not having food or water until I know y u bleeding . It’s important . U might say , small chance of something wrong . Well . If we let u go and not check all the “ small chance “, u ll be back suing a week later that we did not check everything . Do u know how “ fat chance “ I send to morgue in 23 yrs ? Quite few .
On the other hand, u are right . If u feel great enough to leave bcz the results are good enough for u and no fears about possible other conditions , and the need to eat or drink it’s more important , then I couldn’t agree more w u . Pls sign the AMA paper , take your iv off by your self if u want , we don’t care . I am sure someone cares , I just know it’s not me
I couldn’t give u the paper to sign fast enough if I was there , pls leave, I ll take care of the next guy who is also starving but he / she doesn’t feel well and is scared too. U are “ ok “, u are right , leave
@FvckY0u ER s suck . We suck . And if u go to trauma level 1 ER , it sucks even more . Not enough nurses . Not real emergencies . A lot of drug seeking cases . A lot of sick folks and it got worse w covid the last 2 yrs .
Doctors and nurses are exhausted. Definitely not your fault . Ok too if all rest of shit , u all lost masks in every day life . We didn’t . We still wear ours for 16 hrs straight every day / night .
Mean x , people come in w knifes and guns . Yes we have metal detectors and security . My friend / coworker Paul , 64 yr old., got stabbed 17 x by psycho patient at waiting room . 4 abdominal surgeries later , Paul retired . People screaming to us the moment we walk in . And if u are the unlucky motherfucker in charge , better as well as be prepared for a shitstorm every f night . That will be me . Gun shots are the norm . At least one every week . Aggressive drunk / withdrawal patients are no joke either . Worse , their relatives . People collapse on the exam room or on the way to scans / echos / pre op , and some other ones just yell bcz they want a Pepsi and a snack .
20 yrs ago , we were like , fuck off , nobody cares to give u a snack , not a restaurant . However . “ patient satisfaction surveys “, pays the bills now . Reimbursement happens when the scores are high .
So now , trust me , besides jumping on your chest or giving u life saving drugs to reverse a stroke , or stop a bleed or set a bone , now we have to me mindful to get u a drink and a snack . If we don’t , we get an earful if u complain . I will like to know , if in another 20 yrs will expect us to give blowjobs too , bcz sure shit , we do everything else .
4 yrs ago , a drunk one broke 2 of my ribs while we were trying to restrain him . B4 they helped me , the nurse got his screaming ass girlfriend a soda . For real . It is what it is . My nurses are thoughtful of everyone and tired of all , but they still work like horses every night . I am sure your ER did their best , and yes , no reason to stay there if no active symptoms and u can see results from home at “ mychart “.
I feel ya. I was at the ER last week. I had covid and was coughing up blood. I went to the urgent care because I knew the hospital would be an ordeal, but urgent care told me to go to the ER. I was there for over 9 hours, most of it just sitting and waiting for something. No food, no water, it was cold and awful. They finally told me that I had pneumonia but all of my other results were good. The blood stopped on the next day. They did nothing. Our medical system is the best in the world? I think not.
