In a world where we need to come together and face the ongoing crisis of global warming, instead we are doubling down on our ancient, primitive, counterproductive worldview of religion and tribalism. Such memes made sense, evolutionarily, in a world where they were 1 million people and high infant mortality and life expectancy of 35 years. It does not make sense in a world where world population has doubled since the 1960s and is now 8 billion and is already more than the earth can sustain.
But in the world where there is despair and desperation, politicians know that they can get votes by appealing to peoples monkey brains. Religious prohibitions against masturbation, abortion and homosexuality made sense, in an evolutionary sense, when there were 1 million people and rampant childhood diseases. Increase the population of the tribe and out reproduce the other tribes. But in this world it does not make sense. We can't help ourselves. We are monkeys with big brains.

I agree with your every word except for the idea that we now have more people than the earth can sustain. Maybe we are simply going about things wrong. Herded around by politicians like sheep is definitely wrong. It's time to wake up. The current water crisis, for example, was created by too many people wanting to live in the same area. Idiots will try to solve this by giving them some of your water. That only makes things worse.

I read an article way back in the 70s that speculated the the planet could support a population of 40 trillion, yes I said trillion not billion, people. But according to the article that would require us to live under a strict centralized world government that would dictate to everyone exactly how they could live. Since nothing like that could happen even on a smaller scale, we shouldn't plan on organizing a way around increased population.

We are humans, not monkeys. Human population has gotten out of control. We are wreaking the planets climate. We don't have a planet b to go to.

We’re clearly monkeys….🤷🏻♂️

What separates is from the other primates other than our extensive vocabulary? 🤔

@Buck We are apes, not monkeys.

Are you a human or an ape, make up your mind!?🤠

@Buck Humans are apes.

@Buck To use to get what our monkey brains want.

Speak for yourself, I’m a baboon!!🦧

And Alec Baldwins wife just had baby number 7. Total madness.

I've run into people in their late 30s bragging about having more than a dozen kids. It made me sick to hear them so proud.

Just what we need...more Actors???...smfh

This is going to sound rude, but have you ever left your house and learned anything aside from what CNN told you???

You could move every single person on earth to the United States and every individual on earth could rescue each 1/4 acre of land to live on. A family of four could pull their 1/4 acre together and have a whole acre to live on. The rest of the world would be 100% empty. All of Canada, all of Mexico, all of China. Completely empty. The earth is far from its sustainable population peak.

Given that we were told in the 80’s that Aqua’net and cow farts were going to eliminate the ozone and everyone on earth was going to freeze to death, then we were all going to be killed by acid rain. Then…. Then they came up with global warming and we would all be dead by 1997, then by 2000, then by 2005, then by 2010, then by 2015, then by 2020, and I’m not sure when we’re all going to be dead again.
Far more people still died every year from cold than die from heat. This hasn’t changed since records have been collected. On an average of many many decades, the ice caps aren’t any different. Some years are warmer and there is less ice, the following years are colder and the ice increases.
Sooooo….. they changed the wording to ‘Climate change’. They can’t prove that the temperature is going up more than a degree or two over the next 100 or so years, so they make more money if they just say climate change. No one can claim that the climate doesn’t change. It changes between 8:00am and 8:01am and all day every day.

Glaciers are disappearing and huge chunks of Antarctic ice have broken off and melted in the ocean. Seawater is infiltrating septic systems in Miami, Florida due to the rising sea level. Humans have trashed the planet and it is likely beyond repair.

@MizJ
Glaciers always fall off. It’s 100% natural. It takes time for them to reform.

Any city by the ocean is going to have that issue.
Chicago has had a multitude of water issues became they are butted up against a giant body or water. It’s not because Lake Michigan is about to over flow.

@MizJ Don't feed the troll.

@CourtJester [scitechdaily.com]

@Flyingsaucesir It's truly sad how much crap people believe, science education and critical thinking skills are nonexistent.

This does not sound rude. Just badly misinformed.

@augimmun
From a liberal, that means ‘True’.
I’m open to being proven wrong though
