This an agnostic site. We all think the rapture is bullshit

I live in the town of Bedford, in the UK. We used to be home to the Panacea Society, a weird, semi-Christian cult that believed that everything outside of a 12-mile radius of the town would be destroyed in the apocalypse. Bedford would be saved, because it was the site
of the Garden of Eden. They had prepared a house there for Jesus to live in, and from which to rule over what was left of the planet.

I refer to them in the past tense, as the last member died about 15 years ago. This is despite them claiming to have possessed a panacea, a universal cure for all illness.

My point is that UK apocalypse cults can be just as nutty as the US ones... (just that ours don't have guns...)

Does The Pope Wear A Funny Hat?

Well, obviously. How many atheists/agnostics are going to believe in it, I wonder.

Is this a trick question?

The entire book of Revelations has no connection with reality or sanity.

ALL RELIGIONS are bullshit ANYTHING to do with religion is BS ANYONE bowing and scraping to an imaginary person is full of BS, so why should the rapture not be BS? And why would anyone NOT a Christian not announce it to be BS. Heck I could name MANY, MANY Christians who call it BS too

Yes.... that same old scare tactic.

There are a whole lot of people around town here who are waiting impatiently for the Great Rupture -- er -- Rapture.

Bollocks, it's all just part of the overall craziness that makes up christianity.

Even the man himself (Joshua the Nazarene or 'Jesus'😉 got it wrong. He said to his followers who were gathered around "There are some gathered here today who will not see death before the coming of the Kingdom of God" That is a modern English translation of course. He would have said it in Aramaic or some such. Well that's according to what was written in a particular Gospel. Mark I think.

Just in my lifetime so far some religious group or psychic has predicted this a minimum of 10 times. Plays on people's sense of morbid curiosity and it sells. I get a kick out of the antichrist thing the proclaimed Napoleon to be the first Hitler to be the second and the third is yet to come. What they neglect to tell people is there were worse people in history than those 2 clowns. Genghis Khan Alexander the Greate to mention a couple. The end of the earth is eminent, the universe will swallow it up and reconstitute it as something else. However life will have been snuffed out long before that happens.

The rapture is only mentioned in the book of Revelations, which, from my understanding is written by men. No truth of it, only to scare people.

Of course it is.

LOL Gimme a minute I'm still laughing. 😀

The bible is fiction and the rapture is fiction and no one can convince me otherwise. 🙂

I lived in the rocky border town of Creston BC. I called it TWIN PEAKS. The freakiest town ever with the largest combination of churches and bars I have ever seen. The bar is where they go to wash their sins. Creaton is where the cows live in a different time zone and so do the people.

The most real thing in town was 12 foot high bronze statue of Sasquatch at the Kookenee Beer plant.

Only a Religion can in mass make up an insane party called :End of the earth Party:. This end of the world party on CHRISTMAS eve was also celebrated with the highest record alcohol sales across North America.

This one Creston bar had an Elvis Impersonator who got ELVIS's songs wrong.  Kind of like how wrong interpertation got into the Bible. What the hell as long as people are having fun from Hollylands to Hollywood. For all the fornicators here, Im sure hell is nothing more than a hot nightclub.

I mean some people feel as if they are weightless or lifted when near death or a scary experience which christians took advantage of but for me it's kinda like water. Water never really disappears it just changes form I believe in reincarnation but at the same time that would just mean we are free from birth, and if that were the case stupid people would feel no remorse is doing The Stupid and offing themselves to escape punishment. christianity is just our ancestor's way of contoling stupid people. Some people want to be good while others (christians) need to be good.

I wonder how many atheists/agnostics are pro-rapture....haha....don't know or believe there is a god, but he is gonna yank me up so we can hang out....wonder how you would justify that dichotomy....(I, of course, have no idea whether it is crap or not, but it is low in my subjective possibility level)

Well if you talk to the Christians that DON'T call it BS then you are going to Hell or Purgatory
