The Chinese are real long term planners and I can see a universal wage eg work a choice rather than a necessity, before that time comes. I also see a world ruled by industry coming to an end sooner than later. Consumer societies are not sustainable. Not only China, everywhere. Robot drones will do a lot of our essential tasks like farming and rubbish disposal in the future. Assuming we don't blow ourselves up first that is.
i never understood the one child policy except from an authoritarian ruler view eg break up family units. It destroyed too much of human social life. For a one child policy means we may remove the terms brother, sister, Uncle, Aunty and cousin from language as they would no longer exist.

They were very concerned about population explosion collapsing their ability to manage the nation. This was just after their revolution, after all.

Yeah. We may be worried over nothing. I think this might be why they're building modern automated cities. They won't have enough workers for service and transportation work.
