So I voted yesterday. The new machines were terrible. They gave you two long sheets of paper and sent you to the first machine (there were 2). It was a big touch screen with what looked like a printer at bottom. I put both sheets of paper in the tray. Then there 102 pages to go through on the screen. When I finished it started to feed in my paper and print my choices. Turns out I was supposed to put in 1 sheet at a time and it jammed. I called a poll worker over and the first one was unsure and called over another one. At first he said I would have to start over but he was able to unjam the paper and reprint both pages without me doing so. Then I verified my printed choices and took the pages to a second machine and fed them in. It was so much more complicated than 2 years ago and left me wondering how much of the difficulty was intentional. The poll worker said they had changed it because this was supposed to be better. I live in Houston, Texas and have my suspicions that that was the messaging but that the opposite was intended. However, please don't let any of this discourage anyone as I imagine that is exactly the outcome that the anti-democratic forces hope for.
