Some sad news for Agnostics Members….our member and friend -
@Lilac-JadeCanada, Patricia - sadly lost her husband Rick this morning. She has asked me to inform you that he passed away peacefully in his sleep. I’m sure it’ll be some comfort to know her friends here on the site are thinking of her, so I’ll pass on your condolences.

Thank you for letting us know Marje. I know Patricia knows we are all here for her. Very sad news. 😕. RIP Rick.

Yes…I’m in touch by email…she knows you’re all thinking of her.

@Marionville I am so sad for Patricia becoming a widow. It really brought back memories for me after I read your post. So sad that she’s joined us in this sorrow Marje.

@Redheadedgammy Yes…statistically we’re the ones who are left bereaved…a sad fact of life. My Peter’s 12th anniversary is in 2 days time.

@Marionville
I hope you have fond memories to look back on.
It's never an easy situation to deal with. All we can do is be here for each other. You never know what disaster someone might have just been dealing with, but a bit of random love from a stranger goes a long way.

@BOBdammit Yes…I have plenty of good memories …we were happily married for 37 years. Thank you for your kind thoughts…I’ve passed on all of your condolences to Patricia for her loss too.

Terrible time, wife to widow so fast.

She should certainly receive my condolences, I thought I had not seen much of her good contributions for a while.

I’ll pass them on to her.

Thanks, just trying to get back to doing the usual things now.

@Lilac-JadeCanada Good to hear, take your time .

@Fernapple Yup.

Condolences. We might all be so fortunate as to pass on to the great cosmos compost pile, at home, in our sleep, with the ones we love & who love us. Heal soon. We are thinking of you. Hugs.

Thanks, but he was in hospital.

Sorry.

So sorry to hear this, for her sake as the survivor.

It’ll be a time of great readjustment after such a long time together.

@Marionville I think of this on occasion about my own partner and hope that I have the strength if she goes first and at the same time I hope that I have the courage to hang on so she doesn't have to remain alone after I am gone. Mortality Sucks.

@SnowyOwl Yes…I actually am glad I was the one left because I really believe I am better at coping on my own than my husband would’ve been. Tomorrow is the 12th anniversary of my husband Peter’s death…after 37 happy years of marriage. It takes some time, but with the right mental attitude we do adapt and find a new kind of contentment.

Thanks.

What did he die from?

I’m not party to that information…but he was diabetic and had been in hospital for a good few weeks now. Further than that I can’t say.

@Marionville That pretty well explains it. Thanks for the info.

@Marionville Not diabetic. My son is diabetic.

@Lilac-JadeCanada Oops…sorry.

Why should this be "General & Hellos" reportable?
Death is inevitable for all of us.
Why would the member be sad? Did she have unfinished business with her husband & thus will not be able to fulfill her ambitions?
Did he have unfulfilled ambition? Now the latter if honourable I can commisserate with.

It has been my experience that the women who most grieve their husband's death are those who have not given them their permission to die before them or want to continue their misery till they predecease them.

Those who have had excellent marriages celebrate the years of joy that they had together & having been released from their obligation but continuing to revere the dead partner look for continuation of those joys with a new partner immediately.

They don't make themselves martyrs.

Well good for you. Some people feel more intensely the void that a departed one imparts. Others may not have that emotional intensity as their brain is activated differently. respect others that may feel pain in a manner that you do not. Impose not your emotional barrenness upon others.

@Mooolah Please explain how "Those who have had excellent marriages celebrate the years of joy that they had together & having been released from their obligation but continuing to revere the dead partner look for continuation of those joys with a new partner immediately. They don't make themselves martyrs." could be classed as "emotional barrenness"!

@Mooolah Life is for living in the now not past memories or imagined future glories occurring through xtian promise of reunification with the dead in mythical heaven!
