In an earlier post I stated that it seems like there needs to be a death count of 5 or more in order for the media to report a mass shooting. Somebody responded "I thought it was 4."

Well, in order to be statistically counted as a mass shooting, there must be at least 4 people who get shot, and it doesn't have any requirement that any of them actually die. To date in 2022, there have been over 600 (reported) mass shootings in the U.S. so far this year. However, there may also be more which were just not reported.

My comment was that because mass shootings have become so common, it seems like in order for a mass shooting to make the news, there has to be at least 5 persons who died. Not just shot, but who were killed. The exception(s) would be if a shooting involves a celebrity or public figure. However, I it does seem like in order for it to merit news coverage a mass shooting has to have a high death toll, of at least 5, in order to be covered. Also, the likelihood of coverage also depends on the race of the victims. The whiter the victims the more likely it will be covered. As an example, I suspect a mass shooting that kills 10 black people may not be covered, while a mass shooting of 5 white people would be.

I am not saying that is how it actually is, but how it "seems" to be, as I do think that is how the media is currently covering mass shootings. As mass shootings become more common, I think it will require even higher death tolls in order to be covered.

6,000 year old families have been in power all this time , because they know how to manipulate the masses, that use the media, & they infiltrate organizations & institutions .. the owners of most of them .. it's just about 4,000 people.. who could be part of the family or just puppets, no idea... Just know that 6,000 years is a long time and a lot of knowledge to aquire and pass down .

It stands to reason that as the number and lethality of shootings rises, attention will always be focussed on the worst cases. And there are only so many hours in a day before the next batch of bad news comes along.

So sad we have become almost numb to shootings in this country. Shouldn't matter If it is one or many. But Americans don't seem to care unless it happens to them. So, unless a mass shooter takes out enough republican kids...they don't care?
As far as I see it, every death by one of these weapons of war, is now partly the blame of lawmakers who refuse to do anything to stop it.

I blame the wars, the behavior of those partaking, inspiring others to use violence to get their way..
