Would the military disobey Trump if he decides to start a nuclear war on North Korea?

The Patriot Act along with the NSA gave the President power to virtually suspend the Constitution by declaring the potential for a terrorist attack. The concept of Congressional control & oversight by our Judicial system can now be suspended by merely raising the spector of terrorism. It was a nice concept but democracy is on the run & I may have to bug out.

I sure hope so. Considering he does not need approval from Congress to launch nukes, someone in the military better step forward and put a stop to it if Trump gives the order.
Several NPR stories related to the matter:

To me... there edging Trump on. Trump only hangs with the winners. Sucking up to him gets his attention. These generals are dying for another war. That's what they do. That's why they get there. To be in charge of the military and wars.

Fortunately, the POTUS needs the approval of Congress to declare war. I think there are still enough sane people on both sides of the aisle in Congress that a war against North Korea would never be approved unless Kim Jung-Un makes the first move. This is not likely a decision which the military brass will have to face.

Sorry, you are BADLY misinformed! The president can, at ANY TIME, and WITHOUT CONSULTATION, summon his emergency war order officer to open the "football." This instantly connects to an ultra low frequency communications channel which puts the president in immediate control of the nation's ENTIRE nuclear arsenal. From that point on, he can order up anything from a single nuclear warhead, as say a warning, all the way up to global destruction of every large, medium, and small city on planet earth. There are even provisions to ensure that no non-combatant nations will escape the insanity of global Armageddon. Still, about two thirds of the poorest human population would escape instant annihilation, and might be able to continue to subsist on less than a dollar a day.

Actually, I have heard a few stories on NPR about how the president doesn't need congressional approval to launch nukes, not even a declaration of war, nothing. There is nothing in place to keep the president in check on this matter. Scary.

The fuck??? That's a horror show just waiting to happen. If that's the case, then we're sitting on a ticking time bomb with that maniac in the Oval Office.

@IndridCold "Congress must approve war". So then Vietnam, Iraq, & our 16 year war in Afghanistan were approved by Congress? I must have missed that.

I highly doubt that any conflict that may occur will incorporate nuclear weapons in the first place. First, they aren't needed. Conventional weapons would be more than enough to take out all of NK's critical infrastructure and its military command and control within a week. Also, even with conventional weaponry, loss of life in both NK and SK will be devastating. Kim Jong-Un knows this, and so does Donald Trump.

Remember, SK has been thumping their chest at least twice a year since the DMZ at the 38th parallel was established. It's their way of saying, "Look at us. We are here. We demand respect." Kim was educated in Europe and he knows very well that he will lose everything with an active conflict -- and he does not want to lose his power and attendant wealth.

No, our military is too well trained to allow decent to get in the way of duty no matter how stupid the president is

One salient point in the Nurnberg Trials was that just following orders is not an excuse for causing a huge amount of unnecessary suffering, however the reality is the winning side does not face trial no matter what they did.
