How do you differentiate between being a Fundamentalist or being brought up Brain Washed. I was raised in the Irish Catholic Persuasion which I will add the famous euphemism "That that the Jews invented Guilt, but the Irish mastered it." To this I would kindly accept any retorts that would be accepted from the audience whom felt excluded as either being Hebrew or Gaelic.
I love this website.

Fundamentalist: One who reduces religion to strict interpretation of core or original texts.

Most religions have adapted to societal changes in order to keep and recruit followers. Fundamentalists do not.

Brainwashing: Intensive, forcible indoctrination, usually political or religious, aimed at destroying a person's basic convictions and attitudes and replacing them with an alternative set of fixed beliefs.
The application of a concentrated means of persuasion, such as an advertising campaign or repeated suggestion, in order to develop a specific belief or motivation.

Fundamentalist's seek to spread their brainwashing around, making them the worse of the two. Not sure if that answered your question fully, but I tried, and yeah this site gets interesting.
