Fear because it is hardwired into our DNA and guides most of decisions.

Anger. It may just be me, but when I post on FB that's what I get the most and I get angry too. I believe Love should be the strongest but for me it's not... yet.

Uhm, I think the little yellow circle with the smiley face in it. That's the one I see the most.

Interesting question as emotions in its own meaning I think are equally strong. BUT... As emotions trigger different physical reactions from our bodies like endorphins, hormones, physical pain etc etc its hard to say. Like AMGT said, something like the loss of a child would def be the most scaring and damaging emotion. Though, making love on extacy with the one you love, passionate and wild.. Hmm pretty strong emotions as well. Guess at the end of it, we're all experts in emotions when we reach old age as it's what defines us in the end.

It may be that each different emotion is strong in different situations, but the lasting ones are peacefulness and contentment.

Fear. I think fear is the strongest emotion we can feel because we evolved basically due to it. If our ancestors were afraid to get near a deadly animal or to be outside in a lightning storm etc. then their chances of survival went up and therefore their chances of procreating went up... just a thought.

The most powerful positive emotion is righteous indignation and zeal in behalf of a just cause. The most powerful negative emotion is irrational ethnic hatred

Fear is very powerful, but for my kids I would face anything necessary to save/protect them, so I would say love.

I can not get upset... my blood boils and just not feel right so never last more than 5 minutes. Been able to control it and reduced to ashes. Just don't let it happen anymore. I am proud every time I am able to put that fire down. Now the emotion of a love connection... I let that linger for as much it can last, I loss control to it and is a WONDERFUL FEELING.

I think that anger usurps all other emotions. I have no data to base this on and just a smattering of observations over a long time, but I have seen anger take over from the sadness of grief, elation, and happiness. In a few cases I've seen folks go from sadness to furious anger in an instant. For those of us who are naturally slow to anger, outbursts like this are disturbing and, at least for me, reinforces the knowledge that it is wise to keep anger in check. The results are rarely positive.

Fear, Hate, Anger, Love, can all be intense feelings but Grief can consume every conscious moment of your day from the time you awake till the second you eventually fall asleep and is there as soon as you awaken again and sometimes even in your sleep for days on end, for weeks, sometimes years

The one that you are feeling in the present, whatever it might be. Being angry yesterday is rarely as good as being happy now, and vice versa.

Grief..happiness and love fade, angry is quick, guilt is fleeting. Grief marks you for life it steals away moments of thought and wonder. It doesn't leave, you just learn to cope.

Pain. It can last seconds, days, weeks or years. It can last a lifetime. The severity may diminish but the feeling is always with you. There are many things that people just can't let go.

anger, because that can lead to murder, push someone hard enough to get angry and they could kill, everyone has the possibility of murder...

0

Empathy-not everyone has it. It takes self reflection and personal discovery how to use it to help others.

Anger, fear, hope and love. All of these are of equal power, but vary from person to person. I myself would say that anger has the power to override any other emotion I may be feeling, even though I don't think I've ever experienced true fury. I'm a bit of an oddball, though.

all I know is anger

Lust. The sexual drive is the strongest instinct we have. Or maybe it's second to self preservation. Can I change my answer to selfishness first and sex second?

After reading the other comments, I see fear, hate and anger on a lot of them. Fear, hate and anger are products of the ego. So, so you think egotism is the strongest emotion? That would mean that our strongest emotion grows out of an illusion. I find that sad. That's where I was till I was 25, driven by lust and ego.

I feel like it would be hate because it almost always has a negative, powerful and noticeable effect on the recipient(s) and multiplies quickly and easily. Next in line may be fear. I say this because much of the hate that comes from Christians is borne out of fear of those who are different from them.

"Love" because it could lead to happiness as well as hate and fear and anger and grief, and jealousy, etc,. You can start loving someone and depending on the situation could lead to another positive emotion as well as very negative emotions.
