‘This week, the Trump administration completed its move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
At the opening ceremony, two of the American speakers were evangelical superstars: Pastor Robert Jeffress, the author of several doomsday booksabout Israel, and John Hagee, who interpreted recent lunar eclipses as evidence that the end times were nigh. The Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro, meanwhile, declared that Trump had “fulfilled biblical prophecy”.

…The recent move of the US embassy has solidified the notion – not shared by the Palestinian people – that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, an essential piece of the end times puzzle. In a recent poll of evangelicals from LifeWay, more than half of respondents said end times prophecy was the reason they supported Israel.’

As lunatic as this aspect of end times evangelicanism is, the final madness is that these are stone cold true believers who see a nuclear armageddon as the pathway to earhtly salvation everlasting glory at God's right hand, and would even wish it into being.

What a bad move...

I always have a lot to say about the Israeli-Palestinian crisis but it's taken a lot of my time and energy lately. Suffice it to say that the leadership (both Israeli and Palestinian) are leading their people down dead-ends. I believe it's because they are BOTH supported financially and ideologically by opposing factions (Iran and terrorists on the one hand and the US including religious right extremists and local Arab countries using Israel to fight their internal battles on the other) that simply do not want peace in this region.
Lots to discuss here. Unlike DenPenno I don't believe violence in people begins or ends with followers of Abrahamic religions.

Disgraceful.

So Trump "fulfilled biblical prophesy." Alright! Now all the Evangelicals need to do is wake up and see that all fulfilled biblical prophesy is simply the fact that the book was not written when they think it was, or that they are taking scripture completely out of context. In many cases it is both.

What is happening now in the Middle East is more killing and bloodshed because of ignorant misunderstanding. It's all about Abrahamic religion. If you think not then imagine for a moment that Netanyahu decides the Israeli Embassy should be moved from DC and placed in Hollywood. He would have no reason to do so. What was Trump's reason?
