This whole thing is silly. I can't think of anything more hollow than forcing someone to stand or salute someone else's preferred symbol.

Out of sight, out of mind. Can't say as I blame them for making a decision to protect their brand, though a better answer (imo) would have been to go back to pre-9/11 days when the teams didn't come onto the field until after the anthem. Of course that would have been spun as anti-American (even though they did it for decades) and I don't know if the National Guard would keep sponsoring them.

Hopefully this means more people will get involved in the real conversation instead of relying on the NFL players and arguing over patriotism.

Who is allowed to carry on political protests at their place of work? No one.

NFL players with an exaggerated sense of their own importance are no exception.

The question is also: 'Who has the right to impose their politics upon employees?'.

Boycott the NFL! All of it. Games, products, everything football!

Tyranny is forced patriotism.

So far as I know, no one is forced to play in the NFL.

@doug6352 : People have a right to work without being discriminated against. This is a violation of the player's right to free expression. The NFL is about to get their butts sued off.

@dare2dream No one else has a right to stage political protests at work. Why don't you try it and get yourself fired? LOL

@doug6352 The question might be better understood of whether or not 'any' employer has the right to force people into standing for the anthem or saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I say that they do not and must not, ever ever, ever, have that as an employer's right. They'll use it to discriminate just as we're seeing, here.

@doug6352 : Can you think of anything more hollow than forcing someone to stand or salute someone else's preferred symbol?

Or not participate on the field. Interesting to see half the team sit in locker room. Ridiculous decision of NFL without player's involvement. Expect to hear and see more protests from players who are justified by freedom of speech to protest black inequality among law enforcement.

People found an effective voice and now the bigots are trying to silence them.

It's too late to regain my business. I am boycotting the NFL, and will continue boycotting at least until Roger Goodell is no longer commissioner.
