As we approach Memoral Day here in the States, I'm curious as to how many of our ladies have served in the armed forces. Particularly the NATO alliance members. How many Shield Maidens do we count here?

I served in the 1st cav about a hundred years ago.
Tell her she's a true Shield Maiden. Go CAV!

(Side note, my parents and brother are Air Force.)
When I was in high school I approached my mom one day and asked her if I should join the air force. She immediately started laughing and smiling and responded "the is no way you could join the air force! You don't follow rules, you march to your own drum. You don't play well with others in the sandbox. You wouldn't do well in the military."
That was the end of my military interest. She's totally right though. I'm in my own little world most of the time. She wasn't being mean or trying to hurt my feelings. I always laugh at it. Serious appreciation to all who have served though!

Not just women but everyone serving, a big thank you for your service.

I'm WAY to wimpy to have served. My daughter was seriously considering the military. While I think the discipline would be good for her, I was terribly concerned about the rape culture and also the state of the world with our current government. I can't imagine the worry of having a child deployed.

Kudos to all who have or currently serve, including their families!
