I just got my second tattoo ever. I think I got my first one in 1996. This is of the coordinates of a stage in a field on an old hippie commune in southern Indiana, where Ukulele World Congress happens. This year is UWC X, and I've been going since #4. The plum is in honor of my best friend, Plum, whom I met on that field. She has singlehandedly taught me more about love than anyone else on earth. (The festival is next week, and I wanted to commemorate it, as it has literally changed my life.)

Feel free to show me yours and tell your story in the comments.

It’s a typewriter lower case letter r reversed and regular with a period.

I recently met a fellow with the same tattoo, in the same location. Instant friendos

What does it mean?

@Nottheonlyone Do you know what a Rorschach inkblot test is? This is the signature calling card of the anti-hero, Rorschach, from Watchmen. I’m an enthusiast fan of Alan Moore, and this is my favorite. It’s been my experience that only Watchmen fans recognize the marking.

@Telegramsam70 I'm vaguely familiar, enjoyed the movie, even if my ex had to explain some of the relationships. I even read the graphic novel, but, apparently, I have the memory of a goldfish. Blink and it's gone.

I don't have any, don't want any, but my kids have them. Reasons for them vary. My oldest daughter has (among others) a "charm bracelet" around her ankle. I once worked with a girl who got a tattoo because she "didn't want others to think she was chicken."
I once knew a man that had an ink dot on his penis. His favorite thing at drinking parties was to ask if anyone had seen Dot. When everyone said "no" he would whip it out. (This is a true story.)

Really like the ones that tell a story. Only got this a few years ago, my design too 🙂

Top is the eye of Horus, it symbolises wisdom and protection for me and mine and I also studied Egyptology for three years.

The next three are the astrological signs for myself and my two daughters, don't believe in astrology but wanted a symbol for each that would fit.

Bottom heiroglyph represents eternally/forever. Me and my girls forever and my parents wedding dance was a song called 'Eternally'

I love it!

@Nottheonlyone Thx 🙂

I love it. I love tattoos. I have several, and all are special to me. I got my first one in the late 1960s. I had a very hard time finding someone who would tattoo a woman. (I lived in a small central Illinois farm town, then moved to Peoria which was bigger, but still very, very conservative). I finally talked a guy into doing it, but he was unsure of the subject matter. I wanted a crescent moon with a goddess. The goddess was the issue. It was a very religious part of the country. He finally agreed if it was in a place that could be hidden,( my upper arm) after I assured him that I always wore sleeves, which, of course, was not true. He also didn't want me to tell who did it. Since them, I have gotten a few more. It is easy to find a good artist now.

Wow, it seems so crazy to me that our culture has changed so much, so quickly! And yet there's still so much to change!

I'm thinking of one. Will do it when this very important project of mine take off. Been working at it for 9yrs.

Are you telling, or is it a secret?

@Nottheonlyone aaah secret. I'm already regretting saying something.

@Lukian I'm not here to twist your arm, no worries.

No tattoos for me. I almost got an eagle globe and anchor while in the Marine Corps (Marine Corps symbol). I almost got my fraternity letters in college.

I remember Arthur Godfrey and Tiny Tim playing Ukuleles.

It's a whole new world now, I promise you.

@ProudMerry I've seen him live. Amazing and depressing!

@Nottheonlyone we have this local guy in Québec

@Lukian Oh, that was fun! Thanks!

That is very cool. I got my first tattoo at age 64. I have 2 and I'm contemplating a third

Late adopter here too. First was at 40. I’ve got three now. Hitting 50 in October, and contemplating something new.

@SurvivorSteph I also got my first one at 40 and now have three. I have ideas for others in the future.

Hi, is the stage still there? Or has it been dismantled and turned into a parking lot or something? I was thinking about getting just one, but haven't gotten round to it.

Yep. I'll be playing on it next week, along with about 300 other people, just not all at once. If you want to see it, you can Google the coordinates!

so where is that? SOuthern Indiana is my old neighborhood in general

Needmore, about 15 minutes outside of Nashville. Plum Creek Road.

And I literally just realized the road ties in, too.

@Nottheonlyone ok I know where that is
