Good afternoon everybody. How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Today here in southern Oregon it is cloudy with some rain and only 61 degrees.
I have two thermometers outside in the shade, today at 1pm one read 101 the other 99.
Couple years ago I was house hunting (Arizona), wanting to live in a warm climate year round, I made 4 or 5 visits in 2015, one visit, mid August, I was returning home (Phila), my flight was canceled. I was put up in a local hotel, told to wait outside a shuttle bus would take me to the hotel. It was approx 2/3pm, the temperature was 115... I thought, not too bad, I can do this. Lately, the nights are generally high 50's... today... no regrets.
We hit 91 today in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I stepped outside and went right back inside. Then later I sat in the living room shivering by the ac like a dork with a hoodie on. Hood up! I do have a point here.
Do you let your ac run even on low, or do you shut it off at night and open windows? I think it takes more energy to cool my entire apartment down everyday. So unless it cools down so much the ac won’t run I keep it on all summer. What say you?
I let it run 24/7 all season long. Keeping temp constant is good for the house structure. But, if the system is constantly running without breaks then I would check windows and doors looking for leaks. If everything is properly seal then the system should start only when needed. And goes without saying, no need to shiver..adjust thermostat to a reasonable temp. Have a happy summer !!!!
I’d bet ya ten bucks my 100 degrees today felt better than your 91... we’re expecting 106 this weekend.
was brought up with no ac in upstate NY.very few have it still today.rule of thumb was,open as many windows as you can at night,shut them in the morning.kinda worked
@lookinhard We didn’t have ac growing up. I’m a spoiled adult. That’s how we used to do it. Windows open at night closed during the day.
Salt Lake City, Utah dab of white things here and there overhead...83f forecast great night for sleeping...........
Here in my part of southern California about 1/2 mile from the water id clear skies. I know its rough but I am willing to endure it. .
Hot.
@Sheannutt yes it does lol
I wish we had your weather. Here in North Texas, it's 91 with 85-90% humidity. Was 103 yesterday. Ugg. Too hot
